Palin For The Secession Of Alaska From The United States Of America?

( – promoted by Colorado Pols)

Update 3: Todd Palin was a registered member of the AIP for seven years. Sarah Palin still supported the party.

UPDATE 2: New Logo

UPDATE: Jake Tapper at ABCNews is all over this.

The campaign of Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., likes to herald the independence of its new running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Officials of the Alaskan Independence Party say that Palin was once so independent, she was once a member of their party, which since the 1970s has been pushing for a legal vote for Alaskans to decide whether or not residents of the 49th state can secede from the United States.

And while McCain’s motto — as seen in a new TV ad — is “Country First,” the AIP’s motto is the exact opposite — “Alaska First — Alaska Always.”

Sara Palin is a former member of supported the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP).

“Our current governor who I mentioned at the last conference, the one we were hoping would get elected, Sarah Palin, did get elected . . . .and there was a lot of talk about her moving up. She was an AIP member before she got the job as mayor . . .

AIP’s goal is secession from the United States of America.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION PROPOSING THE DISSOLUTION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA IF CERTAIN CONDITIONS OCCUR

Even as Governor she promoted the group’s convention.

If McCain cannot even vet his own VP, how we can trust him to make well informed decisions as the President?  Once again this shows a complete lack of concern on McCain’s part for who Sarah Palin really is, but rather the use her in a political gimmick to pander to far right factions of his party.

      1. about succession more than secession anyway. If Alaska seceded we would actually profit. What would they do without their “I live in Alaska” stipend anyway?

    1. More on the AIP platform

that the purpose of the party is  to “seek the complete repatriation of the public lands, held by the federal government, to the state and people of Alaska in conformance with Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17, of the federal constitution…To prohibit all bureaucratic regulations and judicial rulings purporting to have the effect of law, except that which shall be approved by the elected legislature… To support the privatization of government services…”

How ironic is it the AIP’s slogan completely contradicts McCain’s new slogan?

Alaska First – Alaska First Always

After three days McCain finally sent his people up to Alaska to look into Palin further.

McCain’s rash and uniformed decision to pick Palin as his running mate exemplifies his poor judgement. We don’t need for four more years of the same shoot from the hip leadership. ENOUGH!

        1. Perhaps this was the Republican intention all along? To secede Alaska from the Union and to implement their “drill here, drill now!” platform with their new elected leaders.

          McCain/Palin ’08 – Alaska First!

  1. Give me what reason for that false discraseful comment of yours. Please tell me your dumb false thinking behind this idea. Obama will drive the country a part and besides Obama voted with McCain 90% of the time and I’ve got proof as this as well just look at their voting record. Thats not a silly false comment. Its the TRUCE and thats what elections be about.

          1. Nicky you just told us everything need to know about you; you’re not a Coloradan.

No offense Bob but you’re a little older than a boy now-a-days, but still young at heart.

    1. I don’t usually comment on spelling, I’m such a bad speller myself, but when combined with ravings on a par with the type of things written in excrement on the walls of a prison cell in a 19th century insane asylum I must recommend you take a little time proofing your posts.

I actually had to read what you wrote several times and I would like to get that little piece of my life back.

      1. are not the same as:

“Palin For The Secession Of Alaska From The United States Of America?”

        and

“Sara Palin is a former member of the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP).”

Those are what we call lies.  Go Blue can have his own opinion, not his own facts.

        1. … rumor getting ahead of facts.  She attended their convention, she’s addressed the party in a supportive way, and the party has essentially adopted her, giving her ringing endorsements and stating that she was “theirs”.  You might forgive some folks for assuming a bit more fire where the smoke was so heavy.

Not helping the situation is the fact that AIP has stated that in order to further its goals, that its sympathizers must infiltrate the major parties.  Finally, their association with the Constitution Party lines up neatly with Palin’s beliefs.  It’s a good fit and an odd relationship, if not an “out” relationship.

        2. to reflect what’s known at this point. Todd Palin was in fact a registered member of the party and Sarah Palin did support them. And I must say, her association with this organization seems to be a good fit wither her far right ideology.

        3. He’s not a registered member of the party. But I think most politically active people on both sides of the aisle view him as essentially one.

Is Sarah Palin a card-carrying secessionist like her husband was? It appears not. But is she a fellow-traveller? That looks like a distinct possibility. Not a certainity, but definitely a possibility.

          1. … he’s still got too many Democratic (Party) views to be accepted by the Rs.  As of the past few years, there is officially NO overlap of the two parties in partisan rankings, and that includes Lieberman.

But I do think Ron Paul is a Libertarian.
