  1. Based on some of the names I have been seeing in the BB and MH camps, it almost seems as if another Coors-Schaffer race is in the making…

Wonder how this one will turn out.

  2. I’m not sure sure it is a Schaffer v. Coors as much as it is supporters of the BenOwens (Bensen-Owens)empire on one side and the rest of the GOP on the other.

  3. Young Republican, please do a small amount of research before you post. The Holtzman and Beauprez campaigns have staffers from both Coors and Schaffer campaigns on each campaign. I do however see that most of the experienced talent is lining up with Cong. Beauprez. The addition of Watson to Beauprez adds media and fundraising strength to their team. With Williams, Wadhams, and Tonner advising Beauprez he has 3 people who know Colorado politics. Good work so far.

  4. Careful there Old Rep, Wadhams is not involved in the Beauprez race, he gave Beauprez money like he did to Bob Schaffer. Giving advise? I think the guy has bigger fish to fry and doesn’t want to get dragged in to a Colorado Primary. Think before you type.

  5. Other than Laura Teal, name me the former Schaffer staffer on either the MH or BB campaigns?  What I am seeing is a Coors v. Coors race with staffers from his Senate campaign choosing sides.

Who knows, if Pete would have hired Laura first she probably would have been with him as well.  Such a non entitiy she is!  I am a big fan of Dirks and Johns…go get em boys!

  6. Beauprez – Schaffer connections:
Shari Williams – General Consultant to both of them.  Sean Murphy – Schaffer 96 campaign manager, now Beauprez Chief of Staff.  Marge Kline – District Director for both Schaffer and Beauprez.  Dave Sackett – pollster for both Schaffer and Beauprez.

The Gubernatorial primary is actually shaping up to be a Coors, Schaffer, Benson, Musgrave, Hefley, Owens, Coffman vs. ?????  For a guy who has spent his entire adfult life building a rolodex, Holtzman has remarkably little in the way of in state establishment support.  Those who know Marc best seem to be supporting Beauprez in large numbers.  That tells you a lot.

  7. Owens may not have endorsed him, but his other former employer, Dan Ritchie is extremely involved in his campaign.

Owens endorsed Coors also…..  After he endorsed Schafer of course….

  8. It all boils down to this – the Democrats badly need MH to win the primary so they can even have a shot at taking the governor’s mansion. With Beauprez at the top of the ballot, things look bad for the donkeys all the way downstream… Beauprez personifies the Republican Party that scares democrats to death – conservative in ideology and moderate in tone, with good ideas to boot.
So, that being said, our favorite Dead Guvs need to update The Line to reflect a little extra dose of reality…

  9. And then the Democrats gain a Congressional Seat, Colorado misses it’s Ways and Means Seat, Beauprez get’s beat up in the General Election because of his votes – and fails to win the election anyway.

Leave it to BenOwens to decide the future of the state…

  10. I’m sure Rick O’Donnell appreciates your show of support. Thanks for helping undermine a terrific candidate in CD-7. I’m sure Sen. Salazar appreciates your support too. Have you written your check to Salazar for Governor yet?

Colorado has an exciting opportunity to support two winning candidates in Beauprez and O’Donnell. The alternative is effectively supporting Salazar and Perlmutter…

  11. “Beauprez personifies the Republican Party that scares democrats to death – conservative in ideology and moderate in tone”

That statement is so true.  BB isn’t really much different than Marilyn Musgrave when you think about it.  The only major difference is that he doesn’t come across as a sociopath as she does.  In fact, I would say ideologically he is alot closer to her than he is to say, John McCain. He really is a wolf in sheep’s clothing.  But again, if the Dems field a good candidate they might be able to unzip the costume some and give him a run for his money.  But then again that is a big IF.

  12. It must be hard for Defero to post with BB’s thingy so far down his throat.  I’d imagine that would be distracting….

(and i’m a BB fan- I can’t even imagine D’s reaction to his posts)

  13. Makes you wonder how far to the right any candidate really leans.  Shaffer had far right credentials already in place but I never bought Coors’ hard right conversion. Is Holtzman a closet moderate?

I do agree with WTF, I really like Dirk, heck of a nice guy.
