It matches with what some other sources have been saying, though. The fact is, Republicans have supposedly been trying to come up with the "replace" part of "repeal & replace" now for as many years as the ACA has been in effect – and they still haven't presented their plan.
Either that means it's more useful as rhetoric than as actual action and they haven't really been working on it, or it means the various factions haven't been able to agree on an actual plan. And they may never get to that point. They're far more likely, IMHO, to get to the point where the House Freedom (spelled "Free Dumb") Caucus threatens to shut down the government or oust Speaker Ryan if they don't get an immediate ACA repeal bill on the floor and damn the replacement plan.
Maybe Republicans are just following the Pelosi Rule? We have to pass it before you find out what's in it.

I kind of liked Buck's honesty about the issue. Is it even comprehensible that the guy could be growing into his job? That is almost too incredible to wrap my head around. I'm waiting for someone to say it was an April Fool's article. Good writing and kudos to Buck for meeting with constituents who don't have that sacred suffix (R) behind their name.
Agreed. Having such a vile POS as the POTUS gives me a grudging respect for politicians that are at least in the same zip code as the truth. Similarly, having such a chicken shit Senator (looking at you Corey) makes me respect Senators Cotton, McConnell, and others that are willing to take questions, in person, from their constituents.

I was at that meeting. Buck tried to fall back on the standard Repub lines about the need for "market-based" solutions and the meme that government can't do anything right. And when he quickly saw that these folks weren't buying his talking points, he backed off. Then I think he started to listen a little. I'm not convinced that he'll change his position on anything, but you never know. The arguments that participants put forth were very powerful. And as for it being a "private meeting", it was all over Facebook and lots of people knew about it. And that includes all three Denver TV stations who I know for a fact were tipped off about the meeting and didn't show up for whatever reason. It wasn't a circus, but it also wasn't church social. People were polite but very determined to make sure he left that meeting with a few things to think about. In all honesty, I think it was more effective than some of the out-of-control town halls that I've seen on the news.

Market-based solutions…
What a novel idea! Wonder why no one has thought of that before…
Twenty-some odd years ago when Newt Gingrich and the Heritage Foundation wheeled out the precursor to Obamacare – as an alternative to Hillary-care (a government-run program) – they called it a "market-based solution" because it would make coverage available for everyone but work within the existing private insurance markets.
Obamacare is a market-based solution.
Or does he mean supply and demand. That doesn't really work in healthcare. If a life-saving cancer treatment costs $500,000, is that a fair price? Or should we create more supply of cancer treatments so the cost goes down to $50,000?
Healthcare markets don't function as a survival of the fittest Jungle-Capitalism.
Thanks, madmike. I do know it was on Facebook, but if you'll recall, everyone who walked into that room (sans me) had to sign in and be checked off an invite list. If you contacted Buck's office, you got told it was "invite only." I'm sure the TV stations were tipped, but the media was told "no media." I just decided to do it anyway and see if I could get in without too much trouble. I just sat in the corner and pretended to be a fly on the wall – no mean feat for me 🙂
I was on Rep. Buck's tele-town hall just now. He answered a lot of questions about the ACA with reassurances that pre-existing conditions would still have to be insured, and that kids could stay on parents insurance until age 26. After that, he was all about the "market solutions".
Buck refused to answer a caller at 7:47. She asked about right wing violence, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, American homegrown terrorists. What was Buck going to do about that? I thought it was a very relevant question, seeing that, in Colorado, ALL of our mass shooting incidents have been from white male homegrown citizen terrorists. (Holmes, Dear, Klebold, Harris, etc).
"Next question," said our slippery CD4 representative.
My question about how his support of Trump's Muslim ban and mass deportations is depriving farmers and meat processors of their labor force? Well, he never got to that one, either, although I did leave a message.
By the way – Buck did call his meeting in Castle Rock a “town hall”. And you thought it was just a constituent meeting.
