    Moore seeks to refocus campaign on conservative religious values amid firestorm

    Moore’s campaign received backup Sunday from Breitbart News, which sent employees to Alabama to investigate Corfman and the three other women.

    Breitbart’s chairman, Stephen K. Bannon, supports Moore’s candidacy and has said the accusers are trying to “destroy a man’s life.” Bannon is a former adviser to President Trump and is still considered close to him.

      Moore (and his master, Bannon) tell McConnell to resign.

      McConnell (and presumably his master, the Koch) tells Moore to drop out.

      And now that Two Scoops is coming home, he can use his extraordinary skills of diplomacy to calm the waters between the two camps.

    2. As long as we're at it, can someone please tell the "liberal mainstream media" (lol) that a 32-year-old undressing and groping a 14-year-old is not "dating" or anything like "dating"?

        And even if "dating" was given its customary definition, was he hoping that if the relationship lasted long enough, he'd get to take her to her junior prom?

        1. He was a girls softball coach for one season. More opportunities to molest young teens.

          According to colleagues and others who knew him at the time, Moore was rarely seen socializing outside work. He spent one season coaching the Gallant Girls, a softball team that his teenaged sister had joined, said several women who played on the team.

          I think that we might hear from a former Gallant Girl soon. I'm dreading it. I could go til the 2018 election without hearing another "Me, too" story.

      Roy Moore Cast The Sole Vote In Favor Of A Man Who Raped A Four-Year-Old

      Eight of the nine justices on the panel found that the appeals court had erred. Their legal logic was such that a 17-year-old’s sexual assault of a four-year-old was enough to produce in the mind of the four-year-old, an “implied threat of serious physical injury.”  The decision was reversed and remanded and Higdon’s conviction was reinstated.

      Roy Moore dissented from that opinion. He wrote:

      Because there was no evidence in this case of an implied threat of serious physical injury…or of an implied threat of death, Higdon cannot be convicted of sodomy in the first degree “by forcible compulsion.”

          Good to know that truth will out, that evil is indeed transitory, and in many/most cases, eventually, justice will be served.

          1. I post this only to agree with the conclusion: I've witnessed far too many Eisenhower/Reagan Republicans transform into political lunatics after being waterboarded by FauxNews for the past 20 years.  

            1. Using the word "rather" twice seems to be bad grammar. Sad. Oh, and I'm an Eisenhower/Reagan Republican who seldom listens to Fox News. In days past, I'd occasionally watch O'Reilly all the way through. then Hannity would come on and I was ready to puke within five minutes.

    Funny, but I thought I saw Lew Gaiter at at least one Democratic state assembly. I think he was even a D state delegate. Why did he switch parties? Was he a mole for the Rs all along? Or does there just happen to be a Republican with the same name?

Cory Gardner really wants to win reëlection in 2020 — “I believe the individuals speaking out against Roy Moore spoke with courage and truth, proving he is unfit to serve in the United States Senate and he should not run for office,” said Sen. Cory Gardner, Colorado Republican. “If he refuses to withdraw and wins, the Senate should vote to expel him, because he does not meet the ethical and moral requirements of the United States Senate.”

    2. This is why I'm so proud to have Cory as a senator.  He's always out in front* pushing for what's right.

      *out in front of the people behind the people who are actually out in front, provided that he's gotten permission from the Kochs, of course.

    3. An interesting statement from Cory. Statements from women who Moore kissed, hugged, and bought alcohol for when they were teens show he "does not meet the ethical and moral requirements of the United States Senate." But there was no such statement about Sen. Vitter (R-LA), who "admitted to and apologized for prior involvement with a Washington, D.C. escort service." Nor for actual conviction of drinking and driving (Crapo-R-ID). So, what are those standards?

      1. Moore is a child molester.  Vitter is a whoremonger.

        The latter at least involves consenting adults.  And, apparently, Depends.

        In all honesty, I don't lose sleep over whoremongers in high office.  As someone said in defense of bill clinton, he betrayed his wife, not his country.

      2. I want to make a strategic purchase of one square foot in hell, where I can have a video camera mounted, and watch the live feed of the Moores, and the Chappys, and the Boones, and . . . 

        . . . burning forever.

  12. How did this man ever develop a rapport with Colorado voters?

    Why does any slick salesman develop a rapport with anybody? I don't feel like I've made a friend. I don't feel like I belong to something big and important. I don't feel like that this salesman is giving me a boost in power or status.

    Maybe if I were more desperately lonely and hungry for any friendly face, I'd bite. And I probably just answered my own question.

  13. The Republicans are playing Three Card Monte with the tax plan, daring everyone to follow the cards to see which one has your tax cut (answer: none). 

    The bottom line is that the multinational corporations and the very wealthy get their very large tax cuts upfront, and permanently (20% flat rate, and no Alternative Minimum Tax, or Estate Tax).  Some of the rest of us might eck out a small cut depending on income and size of family, but since most of the "middle class" cuts expire or are offset by immediate middle class increases, chances are in a few years, you'll actually be paying higher taxes. 

    Of course the real booby prize for all but the very wealthiest, is that after the deficit explodes yet again, just like under Reagan and Bush, guess what will get cut — that's right, the tattered remains of the safety net.

    Republican Plan Would Raise Taxes on Millions

    Nearly half of all middle-class families would pay more in taxes in 2026 than they would under current rules if the proposed House tax bill became law, and about one-third would pay more in 2018, according to a New York Times analysis, a striking finding for a bill promoted as a middle-class tax cut.

    President Trump and congressional Republicans have pitched the plan unveiled last week as a tax cut for most Americans. But millions of middle-class families — particularly those with children — would see an immediate tax increase, averaging about $2,000. Among the hardest-hit under the plan would be some of the most vulnerable taxpayers: those with huge out-of-pocket medical expenses.

    By 2026, 45 percent of middle-class families would pay more than what they would under the existing tax system.

    Put another way, Republicans are again pulling out America’s Credit Card to run up a $1.5 Trillion tab to entertain their wealthy friends, and then they all run out of the bar leaving the regular patrons stuck with the bill.

    1. It's looking like the House vote will go the way repealing O-Care went. Something like 219 to 216 split. Ryan will be handing out Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free cards to his most endangered caucus members (i.e., the guys from CA, NY and NJ). I'm guessing Mike Coffman won't get one this time.

      1. Either way, California's Daryl Issa is screwed for 2018. If he votes against the tax plan, the rabid uber rich donors will back away from his car. (not that Daryl Issa, the richest man in Congress, needs any rich donors).

        If he votes for it, all of those high-end beach homes with very rich but not uber-rich people who pay pretty high taxes will no longer be able to deduct their mortgage interest. They might be mad at Daryl! They might back away from his car!
