  1. Colorado's Energy Future, Colorado Moms Know Best, and Pueblo Indivisible folks attended a packed PUC "Clean Air" hearing at the Pueblo History Museum yesterday, December 7, 2017.  At stake is whether Excel will close two coal -fired plants and switch to renewable sources. Of course, they also want to raise their already- usurious rates, not only in Pueblo, but across Colorado.

Pueblo Chieftain, predictably, is against the switch to renewables, but also against raising rates.

People made their voices heard, overwhelmingly, for the switch to renewables. If I find the video, probably by PUC or Excel, I'll post it here.

  2. In Leadville, much, perhaps most, of our juice comes from coal. A switch to renewable makes it much more likely that I get an electric vehicle.

      1. R&R, that's some combination of cherry-picking and overgeneralization ya got going there.

But more to your point about jobs, Ford plans to invest $900-million to create 850 jobs in Michigan. It looks to me like most of the jobs will be taken by robots, not Mexicans.

And more $10/hr jobs in Mexico means less immigration to the U.S., no?

        1. Thanks for adding details. And your last point is right on the money.

People who are not starving and are gainfully employed at home rarely see the need to migrate to another country.

  3. Shame on you, Michael Bennet.  Shame on you for lynching Al Franken.

You have a weak mind.  You have a weak spine.

You cannot distinguish between the criminal behavior of Roy Moore and the misbehavior of Al Franken.  You have me now agreeing with Newt Gingrich, for god's sake.   And, this will not help the Dems politically.  Men have supported the Dems in only one of the last seven presidential elections (Obama, '08).  The political assassination of Al Franken makes the Dems the party of man haters, and believe me, this will turn off men in droves.  The so-called "zero tolerance" stand is unattainable, and I wonder if any male politician is so pure.  (et tu, Michael?)

Your lack of a spine includes the passive acceptance of the stolen Supreme Court seat.  Now, it's throwing out one of the most articulate progressives in the Senate leaving us with who, you?  I don't think so.

I am so torn by this.  Of course you usually vote with the Dems and you are a truly nice person.  Of course you are magnitudes better than any GOP candidate.  But, as usual you leave it to us to come up with an effective Dem message — about sensible sexual harassment penalties, about sensible tax reform, about Supreme Court appointments, ad nauseum.

    We are so screwed.

    1. You always have the option of Daryl Glenn.

Or instead of crying in your beer – like Zappy – why don't you recruit some nice straight white guy who condones the occasion dirty joke or drunken groping to a run a primary against Bennet, all in the name of outreach to the angry blue collar voters that Trump appeals to?

      1. itlduso doesn't sound like a Glenn guy. I think he's more likely to back Arn Menconi, the Green Party U.S. Senate candidate for Colorado.

And if we can still quote Garrison Keillor, Arn Menconi, Colorado’s answer to Minnesota’s Norwegian Bachelor Farmers.
According to Garrison these farmers are the fathers of “Powdermilk Biscuits”, “Made from whole wheat raised in the rich bottomlands of the Lake Wobegon river valley by Norwegian bachelor farmers; so you know they’re not only good for you, but pure . . . mostly.
Buy them ready-made in the big blue box with the picture of the biscuit on the cover, or in the brown bag with the dark stains that indicate freshness.
Whole wheat that gives shy persons the strength to get up and do what needs to be done. Heavens they’re tasty, and expeditious!”

      2. Can you PLEEZE stop suggesting to anyone who criticizes Thurston that they prefer Darryl Glenn? That was impertinent the first time you used it and its irrelevance has not diminished.

        Thank you.

        1. Thanks, Duke.  I have been one of Michael Bennet's earliest supporters, beginning with his 2010 race against Romanoff in the primary and Buck in the general.  He knows me from numerous fundraisers and campaign events.  I even made a public statement in 2010 that he must have led a very boring life since Buck had not found anything illicit in his past.  Now, who can say since the bar has been lowered to "misbehavior".

I am still a supporter of Bennet, but am deeply disappointed that he joined the assassination of Franken.  He didn't have to do that (and so I do blame Bennet for that, V).

  4. The whole kangaroo court thing with franken leaves me feeling very unsatisfied.  Three weeks from first allegation to execution.  But I can't blame bennet.
