Will You Take To The Streets If Trump Cans Mueller?

President Trump with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on May 10 at the White House.

Ernest Luning writing for the former Colorado Statesman:

A coalition of groups organizing protests in the event President Donald Trump fires special counsel Robert Mueller has gathered thousands of pledges by individuals who say they’ll be ready to assemble on short notice at more than a dozen “Nobody is Above the Law” rallies across Colorado.

Groups have been preparing to mobilize nationwide protests and assembling participants since late summer but the number of people signing up has mushroomed in recent weeks, organizers said. The number of prospective protesters signed up for a Denver rally at the state Capitol, for instance, more than doubled from around 1,000 just before Christmas to more than 2,500 this week, said Katie F., a leader of the Indivisible Front Range Resistance and one of that event’s organizers…

By Saturday morning, RSVPs were being taken for protests in 15 locations in Colorado — Alamosa, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Cortez, Denver, Durango, Edwards, Fort Collins, Grand Junction, Gunnison, Lakewood, Longmont, Loveland, Pueblo, and Salida.

Signing up for an event with no certain date or even certainty of occurring at all might seem strange. But given the growing speculation over whether special counsel Robert Mueller will be permitted to complete his investigation into the Trump campaign’s alleged collusion with the Russian government during the 2016 elections, there are lots of Americans who don’t want to be caught off-guard. The recent uptick in conservative media attacks on Mueller’s credibility has only increased the anticipation.

If constitutional crisis erupts, what will you do? Our advice is of course to keep it lawful, but that still gives Americans plenty of leeway to make a ruckus.

    1. No one is suggesting a "revolution," except you.

The definition of revolution is the overthrow and replacement of the existing government or political system by those governed by it.

Now that we have a definition of that word lets apply it to your assertion. In the event President Trump fires Mr. Mueller, how does organizing a peaceful protest of that eventuality have anything remotely to do with overthrowing and replacing the existing government or political system?

    2. Only person parroting Chavez would be you – what is it they call you, Nutlid? – implying that any protest against a President would be an illegal action such as a riot is straight out of the dictator's handbook.

On a related note: using elected office to grossly enrich yourself and your friends, as your dear leader has done, is straight out of the Communist Manifesto.

    3. Moddy, you big drama queen. Your sky is falling, your sky is falling.

You're getting your panties in almost as tight a knot as Duke's with his fears of martial law and the cancellation of the 2020 election so Two Scoops can rule by decree forever.

        1. When people organize and don't talk about carrying out acts of violence, but they wan their voices to be heard, it's peaceful.   It's not their fault that Gardner refuses to engage with them or anybody.  If he had, they wouldn't have been outside his house.

    1. Aww, Moddy's afraid of ice-encased disabled people. Better get five squad cars over to his mom's house right away to keep him safe (knowing him he'd probably respond like that scumbag in Highlands Ranch did).

      1. Make no mistake Mama, I want Mueller to stay! He is uncovering so much more than his initial scope that it is truly an amazingly interesting investigation. If his "Kompromat" exceeds hiding the dismissal of Peter Strzok, Demoting Bruce Ohr, whos wife worked for the company that got paid 12 mill for dirt on Trump, or Andrew Mccabe, whos whos wife took about $675k from a Clinton confidant, then really, I would rather see how this whole thing plays out than have it stop. This time will go down in history and its exciting to see it all in action.

        1. Doesn't seem to be a lot of there, there.

Strzok was fired from Mueller's team, as was appropriate to do. Ohr was demoted, because his wife worked for the Fusion firm. McCabe was moved to another job in the FBI, to avoid the appearance, if not the reality of impropriety.

The latter two were FBI or DoJ officials who had nothing to do with Mueller's investigation.

Jennifer Kerns, Trey Gowdy, and Lindsay Graham are breathlessly promoting this as some vast conspiracy. I doubt that they think there is anything of substance there, either….they just want to change the conversation from Trump to Clinton.

          As you do.

          1. Agreed. Not a lot of there, there. I would however expect with this array of talent that we would have more on Russian collusion. All I see is Democratic collusion. I wonder why these people were hired in the first place, as all the "offenses" seemed to have occured prior to the team building process.

I commend Mr. Mueller and encourage him to keep up the good work. Will you still take to the streets when Chuck Shumer and Nancy Pelosi demand he be fired?

Its all starting to look like the Dem equivalent to the birther movement which made a lot of Reps look really stupid. For every "Bengazi!" chant there is an alternate "Russia!"  both of which are going the same place: nowhere.

I certainly hope this is the mantra of the midterms and this investigation lingers for years – it's really promoting the Trump MAGA spiel – you even have CNN conceding that Trump was right?

            Say it ain't so.

            1. If it's promoting the maga spiel, why is Trump historically unpopular? His ratings are way down.no

Be patient, little one. Investigations and impeachment for obstruction of justice  take time.

              June 1972- Watergate break-in. August 1974 – Nixon resigns.

1995 – Clinton & Lewinsky began their affair. 12/1998 – Clinton is impeached by the House, but Senate does not follow, and his popularity increases by 10 points.

Doubtful whether this will work for Trump.

                1. Actually he's lost a little ground. He pulled 46% of the popular vote on election day but according to 538's average of approval polls, he's at 38.2% today.

I know, it's 538 which is fake news based on fake polls, and everyone really loves him, yadda, yadda, yadda.

  1. I know what we should do if Trump fires Mueller…

    We should offer to compromise…

Because firing the man investigating you is not something a fascist would do….is it?

    1. Right! Compromise! Those whiny Republicans just wanna be understood.

I'm guessing the next round of indictments will cause a #TrumpsterFire explosion — and it's gonna be ugly. I'll be one of thousands of Coloradans who will be out there if Mueller is fired. This is OUR country, not #TrumpsterFire's (or Bannon's, or Javanka's, or any of the nutcases in the cabinet).

        1. You got that right, Negev.  What genius took a candidate as good as hillary, spent $1.2 billion and lost to a stumblebum like Trump?

Hey, you'd love my new Mossberg 500 12 gauge with both 34 inch and 18.5inch tactical barrels, 6 shot capacity, for $300 from big five.  It aims and tracks effortlessly.  I tried the eight shot maverick but it aims like a 2by4, it's muzzle heavy.

At these prices, I can't afford to be a pacifist!

          1. Right? Hillarys chances of winning was 91% the week of the election. These Russians are good. Real good.

Congrats on your purchase. Its true you can't beat these prices. My guess is you will see some gun companies supporting a Dem next cycle to boost sales. Nobody seems to want those evil black rifles unless somebody doesn't want you to have them.

I think many would be reconsidering that whole tyrannical government argument right about now…..

        2. I’m fairly sure that that one firm’s Facebook purchases weren’t the only ones, a mere droplet in an ocean, and that the totality of the FSB/Kremlin spending is, like TwoSccops tax returns, unlikely to ever be fully accounted . . .

. . . still, for a case study in how to piss away over a billion, without even any substantial hookers or blow, the HRC campaign is the (fool’s) gold standard.

          1. It's funny because its only 1/10th the amount Bill Clinton used to Sway the 1996 Russian elections to Boris Yeltsin:

In February 1996, at the urging of the United States, the International Monetary Fund (which describes itself as “an organization of 188 countries, working to foster global monetary cooperation”) supplied a $10.2 billion “emergency infusion” to Russia. The money disappeared as Yeltsin used it to shore up his reputation and to buy votes.

The U.S. is no stranger to interfering in elections of other countries.  It's comical that such outrage is exhibited over actions we set the standard for. They learned it from watching us.

            Payback is a bitch.
