Well, you know he'll get what's coming to him sooner or later. Karma bites.
When Trump decides something which seems insane/stupid, I ask myself, what would Putin want? Usually that answers why an action or statement was made which makes no sense in any other context.
Yup, that certainly explains Trump's sudden desire to skedaddle out of Syria, leaving a power vacuum, and our allies at the mercy of Assad and Putin:

The other truism … whenever the *resident does something, the reality is always less than the announcement.
Troops going to the border is a fine example. Apparently, Trump will ask Governors to send the National Guard to the border. And my recollection is the power of governors to mobilize the National Guard is limited to states affected and those contiguous to them. And the states sending the National Guard have to pay for it, which in a time of budget challenges, may limit the response further.
Plus, there is thePosse Comitatus Act, which says federal troops can't enforce domestic law.
Sigh.
Maybe one of his wack job citizen's militia followers can explain that to him. And I heard he was thanking Mexico for stopping the caravan.

The Colorado National Guard is doing training exercises in Morgan and Weld Counties this week. They are preparing for "mass casualty events", specifically a powerful tornado. That's fairly realistic for this part of Colorado.
Still, it scared the crap out of people who didn't know what was going on – a good half of the population. Our local meat plant, which runs on mostly immigrant labor, shut down today as the workforce as afraid to go in, fearing the Guard was there to enforce ICE directives to deport people.
This “National Guard is Training for a Tornado” story should have been broadcast on all of the Spanish – language news channels, and it wasn't.
And Fox News took the opportunity to trumpet for Trump – that the Guard was not there to train for the Mexican border and was not planning to deploy there. The Yammerer did sign the order, after all.
Mexico, unsurprisingly, is not pleased about the US sending thousands of Guard troops to the border. They have suspended cooperation with the US on immigration information sharing.
How is Polis at the top of the Big Line and Kennedy is only at 15%? That seems cuckoo with the caucus results.
I'm a Polis delegate to the state assembly and even I take issue with the Big Line and Kennedy at only 15%.
I was a Polis delegate at the county caucus and we hit the threshold for sending Polis delegates to the county assembly but Kennedy was the clear winner of the night. She definitely has more than a 15% chance of being our first female governor and she doesn't have Bill as a boat anchor.
I am too (a Polis delegate). I suspect the reasoning goes is that Jared can and will spend whatever it takes to win. However, until the primary card is set, the strategy for each candidate may radically change, especially when factoring in the potential impact of the unaffiliated vote. That's what Johnston and Lynne (if she makes it on the ballot) are pinning their hopes on.
There also may be an underlying concern that if Stapleton wins his primary, the campaign might turn on the perception that he's beat Cary once before (although that was a Tea Party-crazy year). OTOH, it could make him overconfident — he does seem to be a lazy, entitled bastard.
He would be a lazy, entitled elite if he wasn't a Republican.
Ask Senators Miles or Romanoff and they will tell you caucus is pointless and doesn't matter.
