  1. Jared Polis made a statement in support of the parents protesting the location of Extraction O&G well pads next to the playground and soccer field at Bella Romero Academy, a low income K-8 school in Greeley.

Kids' lungs and brains matter, more than Extraction's profits. Even poor kids, which was the calculation Extraction made when they moved the project from its original site in the face of parent protest.

So far, he's the only gubernatorial candidate to take a position on it. I may have to rethink my delegate vote for Cary Kennedy.  I think Kennedy will protect my pocketbook better; my rights to union representation, to equity in school finance.

But I am encouraged to see this from Jared.

    1. I got to hear Cary Kennedy speak recently, and she highlighted the Martinez case result as a good one – human health and the environment should be top priorities for O&G regulation. So I don't think she is weak in this area.

  2. Big dog and pony show scheduled today at the national legislature over the Facebook privacy issue. Zuckerberg will be grilled by representatives of the same government that regularly spies on its own citizens.

About 4 years ago I listened to a talk radio show on internet privacy and security that had a computer security expert from Carnegie Mellon University as a guest. Quite an eye opener on what was discussed.

At the end of the show the host asked the guest if he had a Facebook account and he responded no and would never have one (for privacy and security reasons).

Shortly thereafter I deleted my Facebook account (easier said than done, btw).

Take note:  With the right to privacy in tatters and the Fourth Amendment under assault, be proactive in "securing yourself, houses, papers, and effects".

"Those who would give up their essential liberties for a little security in the end deserve neither."     Benjamin Franklin

    1. I read about yesterday's session at Bloomberg, and Zuckerberg made the senators look old/stupid. He had to explain how Facebook worked and every time they asked him about adding a security feature, it had already been built in.

    2. If the service is free, you're the product, not the customer.

      Zuckerberg circa 2004:

Zuck: Yeah so if you ever need info about anyone at Harvard
      Zuck: Just ask.
Zuck: I have over 4,000 emails, pictures, addresses, SNS
[Redacted Friend's Name]: What? How'd you manage that one?
      Zuck: People just submitted it.
      Zuck: I don't know why.
      Zuck: They "trust me"
      Zuck: Dumb fucks

  3. Paul Ryan says he won't seek re-election.

The Trumpstink Institute reports that the stench is at category 5 the speaker's office.

On the other hand Ryan himself is a major source of Kochstink, a major contributor to Trumpstink.

    Stay upwind, America.

    1. Ryan was elected?   I thought once he swore his blood oath, and signed his Koch contract, he was pretty much ”til’ [his] death do us part”? . . .

. . . take the money and run.

    2. Yes, he's done just about all he can to screw over the future generations, so he'll be retiring to the hammock in his back yard as he collects his government pension check after drinking deeply from the taxpayer's money trough for the last 20 years.

  4. “When all else fails . . .

The cult of “limited strikes” is so powerful in Washington that, even when they do occur, it’s said they were never properly capitalized on. There is always the shimmering hope, just over the next hill, that bombing a runway will make all of Washington’s dreams come true.

It sometimes seems as if the United States will be bombing empty runways until the end of time, dead certain that it’s a way to get everything Americans want at no real cost or risk, and that all the past failures only prove that the next time it’ll work for sure.

    . . . fail, fail again”!????

  5. WOTD from an unnamed Republican Congressman quoted in an article by a right-wing asshole I won't link to:

It's like Forrest Gump won the presidency, but an evil, really f*cking stupid Forrest Gump. He can't help himself. He's just a f**king idiot who thinks he's winning when people are b*tching about him.
