  1. Update on Pols meetup: It's happening, even if it's just a few of us. At the Democratic state assembly, at the Mountain View Lounge on the southern end of the main mezzanine floor of the 1st bank events center in Broomfield.

From ~6 – 8:30. Pm. ;All Dems are invited", but nobody's checking your registration at the door. There is a cash bar, but admission is free.

I'll put up a sign that says Pols Meetup, with a drawing of the Dome. Hope to see you there.

One does go through security, of course, and if one is not a delegate on a given day, one needs to sign in for a guest pass each day.

      1. ardy3 — just in case you thought it was tomorrow (Saturday) during the regular State Assembly — this meetup is tonight after the multicounty assemblies (that's why it's PM instead of say, AM before tomorrow's assembly).

          1. Sorry to hear that.  I didn't realize the other assemblies were running so late.

I'll be in the Denver section for today's general assembly.  If you are there, look for a medium size, nearly bald, silver haired guy in a knit shirt, blue jeans and black windbreaker with hoodie wearing black rimmed glasses.

Perhaps we'll have a MeetUp Part Duex!

          2. So you probably saw Joe Neguse speak. Impressive, right?. Boulder will be well represented.

Jena Griswold and Joe Salazar also roused the burned-out crowd with their 3 minute speeches.

    1. @tyler sand berg claims to be official party spot on Twitter

I can’t get used to typing on an IPad too hard to paste links or format text.

    1. United Federation of Teachers calls them pro charter school, pro test-based reform, anti- teacher union.

Obama was a backer, as are Cory Booker and Michael Bennet.

Ballotopedia says they spent $8.4 million in 2013 Denver Public Schools election to elect reform faction led by Barbara O’Brien.

                1. Sorry to cut short your 18 hour lecture series on political correctness😈

“Do you know why ideologues have no sense of humor?”
” No. But if you’ll hum a few bars, I’ll try to fake it. “

                  1. Shrug. Everyone knows by now how vicious you get when contradicted… on anything. I’m not going to be intimidated and I won’t  shut up if I think somethings out of line. Fricking deal with it.

                    1. I am dealing with it.  You're the one screaming "racist!  Racist!" It's the uberleft's equivalent of "squirrel!" What do you scream when you actually do encounter racism?

And by your own account, an awful lot of people tell you you have no sense of humor.  Yes. they are men, the beasts, and those racists hiding under every bed, and those damn squirrels, but there sure are a lot of them.

Too bad.  You had actually been pretty civil for a week.

    2. From Wikipedia:

Democrats for Education Reform (DFER) is a New York-based political action committee whose mission is to encourage the Democratic Party to embrace policies which will fundamentally reform American public education and promotes use of more charter schools, school funding and stricter teacher evaluations.[1] The group wants the Democratic Party to embrace education reform,[2] such as standardized testing and the Common Core educational standards.[3]

The group emerged around the same time as the Education Equality Project.[2] Whitney Tilson and Kevin P. Chavous among the group's co-founders. Gloria Romero leads the group's California chapter. Ron Tupa is a staff member for the group. Cory Booker is on the group's board of advisors. The group is led by former journalist Joe Williams,[4] who covered OaklandCalifornia's school system.[5] In September 2015, Shavar Jeffries become the president of the organization.[6][7]

Chalkbeat, a nonprofit news organization that covers education, has called the group "a national pro-charter advocacy group."[8]

If you enter DFER in the search window on the upper right, you'll see a few user-contributed articles mentioning them.  Mike Johnston and Michael Bennet, among others are supporters.

  2. So I was doing some research and I found this PDF where Joe Salazar (who is running for AG) voted with the NRA and Rocky Mountain Gun Owners to reduce the fee for to get a gun. He was one of two Dems that voted for this.

This is crazy! He goes around all the time saying that he stands up to these people yet votes for their interests. I am shocked that this is not everywhere.

Who is Joe working for? Has he already sold out to the gun lobby?

    http://www.filedropper.com/20180313132352086

    1. Yes, Salazar also eats puppies and kittens, once beat a mother holding an apple pie to death with a bowl of borscht while singing The Internationale, and hates America so much that he had the word tattooed on his buttocks only to have laser tattoo removal saying, "my ass is too good to have this stupid country's name on it!" He also worships the Great Old Ones (ph’nglui mglw’nafh Cthulhu R’lyeh wgah’nagl fhtagn).

Fortunately, we have a strong leader like Amy Padden, who's brave enough to walk the halls and sit in rooms at the most secure prison in America, while looking at terrorists.  She even talked to them in courts!  This kind of bravery and leadership is what Colorado needs!

Look, feel free to promote Amy and the fact that you support her candidacy, but stop with the concern trolling. We’re full on trolls here.

    2. You know, I met Amy and liked her. I’ll be voting for Joe Salazar, because he really has been fighting for working people’s interests for a long time. We don’t have to imagine what his positions would be – we can check the record,

you are not serving Ms Padden well by bringing up distortions and trolling for her, joe is going to shock a lot of people by with the depth and breadth of his support.

          1. I butchered his name. It’s in the Democratic Assembly thread, Phil Weiss got 52% to Joe Salazar’s 36%, so they’ll battle it out in the primary.Amy Padden, who seemed to be a decent candidate who got in too late, exited with almost 11%.

  3. Paul Ryan's legacy (from the New York Times):

So Mr. Ryan has cornered himself, and his party. The Republican base won’t buy what he’s selling, unless it’s awkwardly grafted onto white-identity populism, which is a self-annihilating strategy for mobilizing Democrats to the polls.

The forthcoming implosion of Mr. Ryan’s party, and his imminent retreat to Wisconsin, illustrates the danger of hidebound ideological overconfidence. Party elites in the grip of dogma can’t see the point of checking in with the people they represent and are blind to new problems the partisan catechism is not equipped to comprehend. If a decent Republican Party one day rises from the devastation Paul Ryan practically invited Donald Trump to inflict, it will be one that has stopped legislating for an imaginary world of self-financing tax cuts, having rediscovered and realigned with the basic interests of aging and working-class white suburban and rural American voters. It will take their woes seriously, and nurture their welfare, not their grievance.

  4. This is for Zap — Is It Time for Democrats to Fight Dirty?

…seven state maps that would have voted overwhelmingly for Clinton. Unless we want to be fighting at a disadvantage for the U.S. Senate for the next 20 or 30 years, we’ve got to get creative. And California is just this invitation to mischief. We could have 14 senators out of California rather than two.

And if Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico were granted statehood, that would be 4 more likely Democratic Senators devil

  5. Colorado teachers plan to walk off the job Monday and descend on the legislature

Hundreds of Colorado teachers are expected to descend on the state Capitol on Monday to demand changes in school funding and to lobby for higher teacher pay, mirroring similar efforts in Oklahoma and West Virginia.

All classes in Englewood have been canceled Monday as more than 150 teachers in that district plan to walk out of classes and take their concerns about school funding to the Capitol in support of the Colorado Education Association’s Lobby Day.
