  1. For those interested, the Denver Post ran this update on Friday about the effort to wrest the paper from the clutches of Alden Global Capital.

Colo. investors pledge $10M toward paper

A group of Pikes Peak-area investors say they have gathered $10 million in pledges to potentially purchase The Denver Post and are urging others across the state to join them.

“If the terms are right, we can contribute at least $10 million to the purchase. We are in the process of hiring an investment banking firm to advise us,” said John Weiss, chair of Together for Colorado Springs and owner of the Colorado Publishing House.

Colorado Publishing House publishes seven newsweeklies and a dozen specialty publications and digital offerings, including the Colorado Springs Independent and the Colorado Springs Business Journal.

“The good news is that there are a lot of conversations happening at the moment among a bunch of different folks who are concerned about keeping a scaled newsroom going in Colorado,” said JB Holston, the dean of Daniel F. Ritchie School of Engineering & Computer Science at the University of Denver.

Weiss said his group is looking at all options, including a for-profit model and a nonprofit one, as well as launching a rival paper, although he emphasized he would prefer to avoid a newspaper war.

In a separate Westword article, Denver Councilman Kevin Flynn was quoted as saying that Anschutz is just waiting for the Post to die so that he can buy up the remains without the burden of the union contracts, pensions, etc.  The ultimate Vulture's Vulture, if you will.

  2. Does it get better than this?  Michael Cohen has three clients:

    (1) Donald Trump, who used Cohen to hide the fact that he banged some chicks on the side

    (2) Elliott Broidy, who used Cohen to hide the fact that he banged some chicks on the side

    (3) Sean Hannity, who used Cohen to…?

I guess now we know why Hannity's been such a staunch defender of attorney-client privilege.

    1. If you can believe Hannity, Cohen is just padding his client list:

Later in his show, Hannity denied being a formal client of Cohen but acknowledged that the Trump lawyer provided some advice.

“Michael never represented me in any matter. I never retained him,” Hannity insisted. “But I occasionally have had brief discussions with him” on legal matters.

So I guess that means anything concerning Hannity in those "millions" of documents won't be privileged.  The other two clients would appear to lose confidentiality based on possible criminal activities, so the 'dirty' team can relax and turn everything over to the USAtty
