Steve Lebsock--Living It Up At Trump Hotel Las Vegas

  • by: Colorado Pols

Hey, Steve Lebsock! You’ve just become the first sitting member of the Colorado General Assembly to be expelled in over 100 years. What are you going to do now, the world wonders?

Actually, we weren’t wondering. But in case you were:

After then-Rep. Lebsock switched his party affiliation approximately one hour before being expelled from the legislature over serial sexual harassment, Colorado Republicans initially tried to distance themselves from Lebsock. That lasted just long enough for Republicans to get over their squeamishness and appoint Rep. Alex Skinny Winkler to replace him, thus taking literal and figurative ownership of Lebsock’s party switch. Skinny completed the circle of ignominy by announcing that he would not have voted to expel Lebsock to begin with, thus ensuring Republicans retain no moral high ground whatsoever after the whole sorry spectacle is said and done–which will be in November, when Skinny is bounced from one of the shorter legislative terms in office in Colorado history.

To be clear, we don’t have any idea how a guy who just lost a $35,000 a year job can afford to stay in Trump’s green-marble-and-chrome version of opulence, but that’s for another blog post! Obviously we’re curious, which no doubt delights the only bigger sleazeball in Colorado politics than convicted felon tax cheat/TABOR author Doug Bruce. Bruce and Lebsock both have in common a lack of discernment between good and bad attention.

For today, though, ex-Rep. Lebsock (R) toasting fellow lech Donald Trump at the Trump International Hotel and Tower Las Vegas is…well, it’s perfect.

Isn’t it?

  1. Come on, folks, it's clear what he's doing. Trying to flatter the forever needy #TrumpsterFire, thinking he might have a chance at a job in the current administration. And who knows, with the turnover there, Lebsock may not be too far down the line! His values and ethics sure fit in.

  2. A couple of observations —

     * Nothing in the tweet says Lebsock was STAYING at the DJT facility. I'm thinking a glass of wine is affordable for many people.

     * I'm always a bit concerned about people who are celebrating by drinking alone.

    1. It's a picture of the entrance to the restaurant, off the lobby.  I don't think they stop anyone from getting that far in– as long as they're white.

          1. Of Trump’s last three construction projects, the first to use Chinese steel was Trump International Hotel Las Vegas, which opened in 2008. That the manufacturer is from China is not immediately evident; this fact is hidden within a chain of various corporate entities, including holding companies registered in the British Virgin Islands. That micro-state is a popular site for obscure off-shore entities that exist only on legal documents, limiting the potential liability of real businesses while obscuring their true owners.

According to government documents, the Chinese entity chosen by Trump to provide steel for the Las Vegas property is a holding company called Ossen Innovation Co. Ltd.–formerly known as Ultra Glory International Ltd. That British Virgin Islands entity in turn owns a second holding company called Ossen Innovation Materials Group Ltd., which, through a complex legal arrangement, indirectly owns Ossen Innovation Materials Co. Ltd., and through it, Ossen (Jiujiang) Steel Wire & Cable Co. Ltd., the operating business located in Shanghai. With such layers upon layers of corporate shells and divisions, builders like Trump can purchase their steel from less-expensive Chinese suppliers without the ultimate supplier being readily apparent. That steel was then used in the construction of the Las Vegas property.
