What you can do to fight back this week (August 20)

  • by: ProgressNow Colorado

It’s eerily quiet out there for the middle of August.

In previous years, August was a month for politicians to engage with the citizens they represent back home at public town hall events. That’s changed since Republicans took control of Congress, and last year you may recall that persuading Sen. Cory Gardner to come out of hiding and hold town halls was a huge controversy.

Cory Gardner hasn’t held a town hall since November of 2017. This August, Mike Coffman is specializing in short-notice PR stunts that leave no room for real interaction at all.

And why, you ask? It’s because November is coming and they’re afraid of accountability. Nobody wants to answer for what Trump and the far right have done in Washington, but that day is coming. It’s that simple. We’re continuing to keep an eye out for public events around the state you can participate in, because Gardner, Coffman, and their friends have to come out of hiding sometime.

In the meantime, here are plenty of great ways to take action for the week of August 20:
