  1. Thomas L. Friedman's column today says it all (and my hat is off to all those on this site that already know this and have devoted much of their time and money putting his words into action):

In sum, words today are not enough, investigative journalism is not enough, television special reports are not enough, documentaries are not enough, endless columns and editorials calling out Trump are not enough — even an audiotape of Khashoggi being killed inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul may not be enough — because the truth is just not enough today — not as long as we have a president who has no shame, who is backed by party that has no spine, that controls the House, the Senate, the White House, the Supreme Court and, indirectly, a major television network that has no integrity.

One day I hope the truth will be enough again. One day I hope great journalism will be enough again. But today only a lever of power — the House or the Senate — will make it so. Facts, science and truth — without power — are just leaves floating through the air in the age of Trump, scattering aimlessly without impact.

So, this year: No third party, no Green Party, no throwing up our hands and saying, “They’re all bad.” All of that’s for another day. For today, in these midterm elections, vote for a Democrat, canvass for a Democrat, raise money for a Democrat, drive someone else to a voting station to vote for a Democrat. It’s the only hope to make America America again.

Nothing else matters. Pass it on.

  2. Four more Dem House candidates moved up to within 1% of their opponent and so I donated to them:

    Diane Bush [CO-3]
    Xochitl Small [NM-2]
    Sean Casten – [Il-6]
    Kristen Carlson – [FL-15]

And I'm crossing my fingers that Dave Brat's opponent gets within 1% – and then I'll very happily donate there.

    1. I've been saying for months that Diane Mitsch Bush is the real deal. She CAN beat Tipton. If you're in one of the 29 counties in CD3 (yes, really), work for her. Donate to her. VOTE for her!

  3. Here's an update on the ballot screw-up in Adams County and the zip codes most affected.

    https://www.adamsvotes.com/press-releases/update-adams-county-ballots/

    80241
    80601
    80602
    80640
    80011

My mom called me yesterday panicking because her ballot hasn’t arrived. Hers is in one of the affected zips. We’ll go over this weekend and pick her ballot up and drop it off for her. She doesn’t drive anymore and there isn’t a drop anywhere within walking distance. She didn’t vote at all between 1956 and 2002, but Fiasco 2000 infuriated her and she hasn’t missed an election since

    1. On Sunday, I canvassed in the 80241 zip code for Faith Winter.  A lot of people who told us they didn't get their ballots and wanted to vote for her, and were enthusiastic to do so.  I thought there was something wrong and we told these voters that if they didn't get them by Monday or Tuesday to contact the County Clerk and ask where their ballot was.  According to the Colorado Sun, the ballots should be delivered today, as per the Adams County Clerk's office.  We'll see.

      1. My mom's ballot didn't arrive today, either. If you know people who still haven't gotten theirs, tell them to call the Adams County Clerk’s office. They're using the calls to draw perimeters around the affected areas.

      1. Of course the difference is slight, but the underlying message is that on just the second day of tabulating votes, we've overtaken the historically greater GOP numbers, thus implying we've got momentum.

Also, if the primaries are any indication, the U vote will likely take a 60/40 Democratic split.

Encouraging, but just all the more reason to GOTV
