If you could read Gavin's mind I'm sure he's thinking to himself, "my God, how does this man tie his shoes?". Jerry looks like he wishes a sink hole would form under this national embarrassment.
It isn't necessarily the fault of Red Zone residents that these wildfires are of high intensity and more destructive by magnitudes. Far from it. Red Zone residents can do more but they are on the front lines of these climate disasters and are working together to reduce fuel loads in forested subdivisions.
Cutting the fire mitigation budget of the National Forest Service to buy more missiles for the military isn't making our country safer. A sane military budget would both reduce the deficit and free up funds for dealing with the real threats to our well being and survival. It's time to reign in the Military Industrial Complex in a thoughtful and decisive manner.

True, but doesn't the big and beautiful tax cut help private businesses in the fire mitigation field start up and thrive?
That would be nice.
But, I am pretty sure most of it has been for stock buybacks. Now that the Lords of Wall St. have elevated the market and the stocks they own, taken out the cash or reinvested the value added to their wealth, it is now time for all the millions of little mom&pop investors to lose the money they have in their 401K or IRA.
When the market devalues by 20% early next year, it won't be (never is) the directors of the banks and financial houses that lose their asses.

Hard to start up a business when the majority land owner (NFS) has no funds to do the work. In Gilpin County, 40% of the land is public. The lot of the private land is held by absentee owners who don't give a fig about mitigating. There are mitigation companies working but they are augmented by Saws and Slaws groups who work together to help the elderly and those who can't afford professional mitigation. The biggest reason to mitigate is to preserve watersheds. No water. No civilization or golf courses.
