What are the limits on partisan activities ?

.

I have the impression that there are limits on what can be done under the auspices of a political party, and so there is some incentive for a party, when conducting party business, to call this business non-partisan.

Specifically, organizers of events catering to “Tea Partiers” in El Paso County are proclaiming that their events are non-partisan, but they are really unofficial GOP activities.

Why do I say that ?

Because they will not permit Constitution Party candidates to participate in their candidate debate forum.  They say that they invite the Democratic candidates to participate, but I don’t even know if I can believe that.

.

.

Do you think they are doing this to circumvent some regulation of the Secretary of State ?

Or is this just to trick the Tea Party activists into thinking that there is no alternative to the corporate-owned GOP ?

  1. I see them as an issue driven group, of generally older folks, who counter to their own interests of enjoying Big Government handouts of Social Security and Medicaid have taken a step back and said Obamacare and the much of the Democrat agenda is corrupt and bankrupt.

I believe they are most interested in doing what is right for their country, America.  Even if it is counter to what AARP would want to have them believe.

    1. Since it can be reliably shown that whatever the L-tard “believes” is diametrically opposed to what is demonstrably true, you’ve got an answer you can take to the bank.

  2. what was the specific reason they gave for refusing to invite the Constitution Party to participate? And who did you talk to–what was the name and title of who told you this?

Because if they are truly non-partisan which we already know they are not, any party would be more than welcome to attend.

Better check it out before they take it down.

Unfortunately, Colorado has a 2-party system, if we are going to change that we need to do it before the 2012 election year. This year is too late. We have invited and have confirmations from many candidates with strong morals and Constitutional values and Principles, come to the debate and you will see…

That’s from the publisher of the one edition (premier edition) newspaper “The Constitutionalist” that’s distributed at Tea Party events in Teller, El Paso and Douglas County events.

      1. I seem to recall ACP’s name on my voter registration card when I had to fill out a new one for change of address. In fact, there are more than 3 parties in Colorado unlike what Brian Scott in The Constitutionalists comments section suggested. There is the Green Party, the Libertarian Party and about a couple others that I can’t recall the names of–all official parties in the state of Colorado.

        Thanks for that link, Barron.

              you’re the one.

I thought there was one long-time poster here who didn’t know my IRL name; turns out its you.

              no biggie.

I had a problem with stalkers in the past over a grievance they have with me trying to stop a particularly odious practice in the current wars.  Please don’t mention that practice by name or they are sure to ID me here.

But if they find me, I can come up with another name.  Or use one of my dozens of sockpuppets as my primary ID.

              .

                    1. one login shared by multiple  people- who all post as one username?

                      ~ reverse sock puppetry?

Wow- I’m an idiot, This never occurred to me.

              1. And honestly, I’m not sure what you are talking about so it shouldn’t be a problem for me not to mention, since I’m pretty much clueless. 🙂

I thought you knew, and were being cute.

Turns out you didn’t know, and can’t help but being cute, as that is your nature.

I would offer my forgiveness, but you’ve done nothing wrong.

                  .

  3. The Tea Parties, if they have any roots, can trace them directly to Dick Armey, Glenn Beck, and other GOP foot-soldiers who like to falsely proclaim their independence from the party.

It’s just the next round of ‘dupe the commoner’.  The Republican brand of old is soiled, and only the “fresh, new” approach of the Tea Party will redeem it – and once it does, everyone can safely assume that the GOP is truly transformed and will never do those horrible, bad things ever again.  It worked on the religious conservative crowd once before.

              1. I’m watching the activity on the floor of the house right now, and I’m just glad I’m not in a position where a camera or microphone might have recorded my laughing fit.

                Congratulations to Colorado’s Olympic athletes.

IIRC, Doug Lamborn only spent about $400,000 in 2008 to hold on to a safely Republican seat.

In this election cycle, starting in the Summer of 2009, some relatively big money has flowed into an assortment of front organizations in CD-05 that conceal their ties to the GOP:

    9-12 Pikes Peak Patriots

    912 Project, Castle Rock

    Americans for Prosperity, Colorado

    Colorado Springs Tea Party

    Teller Tea Party

    Tea Party Patriots, Colorado Springs

    Tea Party Patriots, Castle Rock

    Coalition for a Conservative Majority

    Liberty on the Rocks

    Limited Government Forum

    Local Liberty Online

    Pikes Peak Economics Club

    Give Me Liberty

About half of these have paid staff.  Plus there’s the newspaper, “The Constitutionalist Today.”

I estimate that someone – could be 527’s, the NRCC, the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks or elsewhere – has already spent more in the last 6 months than Lamborn did for his entire campaign.

What are they so afraid of, that they are spending all that money, and yet concealing their ties ?

Are they expecting a bunch of Libertarians to vote Democratic ?  Is that realistic ?
