There’s been a great deal of debate in the last couple of days over an incident Saturday at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., caught on video from a number of angles, of a confrontation between a Native American veteran and a group of high school students wearing red “MAGA” hats. The Trump supporter teens were at the tail end of the anti-abortion March for Life, Native American drummer Nathan Phillips had participated in the simultaneous Indigenous People’s March, and still another group of unrelated protesters was on the scene resulting in a toxic brew of mutual antagonism that as of this writing has still not been conclusively sorted out.
Unless you’re Todd Brophy, cousin of longtime state Sen. Greg Brophy and himself the losing 2016 GOP candidate for Aurora’s House District 40, who posted this straightforward interpretation of events to the Facebook page of the Arapahoe County Republicans yesterday:
For anyone hoping to see tensions reduced after another racially divisive national news incident, this won’t help.
But unlike at least some of the participants, Todd Brophy isn’t bullshitting you about his reaction.

What the fuck.
I know.
I can’t believe Brophy’s not working in the White House either?!
I think this counts as submitting his resume.
Todd is a *cousin* to Greg (their fathers are first cousins). He (Todd) is actually my first cousin (his mother and my father were siblings). If you follow him on FB this post would be no surprise (and I only get to see his public postings, and screen shots from mutual friends including the question: WTF?
My Uncle Brophy
The title to a horror movie, or a story about the worst Thanksgiving dinner of all time?
LOL
Just to be clear, we share a gene pool, not family dinners!
Yes but Todd and Greg are from the shallow end of that pool.
How ignorant do you have to be to chant 'Build the Wall!' at Native Americans whose people were here at least 13,000 years before the European undocumented immigrants showed up in their lands? (Todd is a Yuma County native…we have some history).
How ignorant do you have to be to chant 'Build the Wall!' at African-Americans whom white slavers kidnapped from their homes in Senegal, Nigeria and Angola and transported them here against their will? (Todd's marriage is inter-racial).
How ignorant do you have to be as a Catholic (Todd comes from a long line of Irish Catholics and was raised Catholic – I have no idea whether he even practices the faith any longer) not to know that anti-immigrant slogans like 'Build the Wall!' and 'Make America Great Again' are the descendants of the racist slogans ('Keep America American') that white Protestants of the 19th century 'Know Nothing' secret society chanted at Catholic immigrants from Ireland, Italy and Germany just before they burned down Catholic churches? (the first Catholic church in Wray was burned down, widely believed to be the work of the local KKK).
Just how ignorant do you have to be to belong to the party of 'Make America Great Again', the party who is a perpetual attack machine on the LGBTQ community when you have a transgender relative in your family?
<sigh>
Is Todd the dumb one?
Is Todd the dumb one?
In that family, it's hard to tell.
He's at least a racist one.
He’s the racist one for sure. The Republican River runs through his home town so I guess he drank that koolaid a long time ago.
The river was named after the Republican Sioux, not the party, so don't blame it. It eas my mother's favorite fishing spot.
Gross. And no need to worry about shaming brother Greg Brophy now that he's a big time Denver lobbyist.
I had heard there were some questionable Ref calls, just didn't realize it was this bad.
What, no "firewater" references? That's some pretty weak sauce there, Toddy Boy. Gonna get drummed out of the Kute Kuddly Kittens for that lame effort.
