A primary is a good thing,
especially when the incumbent Senator has Never been elected to any public office, was a political unknown and did not propose to support issues dear to the Democratic Base until “after” he was faced with a Primary Challenger, former Colorado House Speaker Andrew Romanoff. Romanoff has a long record in the Colorado Democratic Party. Andrew, we know you. Michael Bennet, not so much.
Michael Bennet was appointed over the objections of many in the Colorado Democratic Party. Gov. Ritter caused this split by appointing someone who had no elected political history.
Not my fault and not yours, Ritter’s alone!
The smartest guys in the room have been leading America down the wrong path for decades.
Assuming that the base of our party would calmly accept as our Senator someone whose recent employment included being the goto guy for Colorado’s Mr. Conservative, billionaire Phil Anchutz, is just naive.
Colorado Democrats are looking forward to being able to decide at Our Caucus and at Our Primary, Who Our Candidate will be, without any candidate being forced down our throats, by anyone, including a Democratic President who we still may support, but whose actions are beginning to concern us.
Obama’s raising nearly three quarters of a Million dollars for Bennet is just wrong, especially as Bennet already had seven or eight times as much money as Andrew Romanoff. Trying to bury Romanoff in Bennet’s Millions?
All available polls show that Andrew Romanoff has the support of the base of the Colorado Democratic Party, yet Senator Bennet’s Millions are used to present his win as a preordained fact, inevitable and incontestable. With Bennet’s Millions we will wear you down, bury your facts, and make you accept Bennet’s version of reality.
“doing a fantastic job” is in the eye of rank and file Democrats. Personally, I don’t see it.

We get the hell out of there as soon as it makes sense. Bennet did too — then went to work for John Hickenlooper. Are you going to trash him here, too?

If Bennet does better than Ronanoff’s camp expects at the caucus, how will it be spun then? No money has been used for expensive ads, fliers, etc. Just curious.
It’s pretty easy to see the Romanoff campaign reaction after caucus, no matter what the result.
But I’m here to build the party, and that kind of speculation would not do that.

We need to hold a national majority in both houses that will work with the President.
Locally, Mayor Hickenlooper and the state house races are just as important (maybe more so)

Personally, I do not believe that Andrew Romanoff is “lifting the debate.” I do not believe he is “lifting our philosophies and our candidates or our platforms,” as you hope.
He is lying about a sitting Senator who could actually use his help for a very important general election.
He is burning bridges with people who used to support him.
He has gone too far and discredited himself in the process. I think he is hurting his party’s chances of retaining the seat, and he has hurt himself.
I am not in a position to defend a guy I used to admire who is doing and saying some appallingly false things.

A old friend of mine who has passed used to say that you should only say good things about others. He said his ex-wife made a great strawberry cheese cake. That’s all he said about marriage.
Perhaps I was more than generous.
On a lighter note — did you read the Dem caucus predictions thread? RockyMountainModerate wrote one that made me snort organic yogurt out my nose laughing. (I shouldn’t blog while I eat dinner.)
