Reasonably bad, anyway. I haven't seen extended snow intensity like this since we got 7+ feet in the 2003 storm.
Snow continues at a mad clip at 9500' in Gilpin. We're several hours past the one foot mark, but at some point you lose track of just how much has fallen. We're not yet to using the second floor exit as ground floor; I suppose that's something.

They would pick over the battlefields, and choose where the slain warriors would go – to Valhalla with Odin, or…..elsewhere.
Other legends and stories about the Valkyrie read like a romanticized soap opera. They were for sure female warriors, and may have been modeled after actual Viking women warriors.
Either way, they embody one aspect of female strength, and I'll take "Valkyrie" as a compliment – minus the armored brassiere.
I love Wagner, Dio. But Hitler was really into him and the composer's heirs were great supporters of der fuehrer. I remember years ago the debate in Israel as to whether their symphony would play wagner. The director, Jewish, of course, loved the music. But thousands of concentration camp survivors objected, because they had heard it round the clock.
Wagner himself was a vile anti-semite whose essay “music and Judaism” greatly influenced Hitler. Some of his operas had vicious depictions of Jews.
Personally, I like Jews and like Wagner, especially the Ring and Flying Dutchman. But complicated it is.
You know, there are critics of free market capitalism, and, yes, even communists who are not only not stalinists but also heavily critical of Stalin, the USSR, and stalinism.

Goldman was great. She even wrote a letter in support of trans people (using the older term "uranian") in a letter in 1923 to Magnus Hirschfeld. She's hugely inspirational to me and a vastly better communist than basically any stalinist I can think of.

The problem with anarchism is no one understands what it is and hardly anyone can explain why its a good thing.
I cannot think of a time that anarchism and anarchists stopped capitalism from causing the negative outcomes it's known for. And don't tell me Haymarket got us the 8-hour work day, the Labor Movement was never and is not mostly anarchists.
Anarchists contributed almost nothing to the labor movement. Democratic socialists like Walter Reuther, however, were vital. And outright communists like lee pressman even helped, especially in the CIO, though they never controlled it.

I remember going through an anarchist period…mostly out of exasperation with the opportunistic lying-ass Trotskyites, and the everlasting droning intellectual martyrdom of the Marxist-Leninists.
But I wouldn't say that I had nothing to offer, even then, when I metaphorically flushed all those ideologies down the drain.
Sometimes you have to throw everything out and start over. That's what my anarchist phase was. It's taken decades of seeing which ideologies are actually lived and actually make people's lives better now.

It's kind of "meh" up here on the northeast plains. An average snowy day in Colorado. About an inch sticking, and coming down hard.But I'm happy to take a snow day off, anyway.
Not a huge amount sticking here in West Denver, but the snow is heavy and the wind is fairly bad. No idea what the numbers are, but my power has gone off for a minute twice so far. In case it goes out and stays out I am running the heat up much higher than I normally would. Much worse than the greater depth of fluffy snow from little while back.
Back to shoveling.
Kudos to the school districts and others who preemptively called for closures. Nothing but rain was happening when we awoke this morning. I bet many were ready to call Fox News to decry our weak American spirit. But, now with a 68 mph gust reported here in Centennial and lots of snow it looks like they made a very wise decision to close. It's always hard to make those calls and they should get credit when they get it right.

In the 1977 Blizzard (April Fools Day) we lost electricity for over 30 days in southern Yuma County and lost a LOT of cattle.
Report from the high country: More than 8 inches snow since last night – on top of feet of snow this season. Have not seen snow piled up so high in the yard in the 13 years we've been in this location – probably 8-9 feet high where it's been plowed and shoveled.
From where I sit, the very best thing about this blizzard is that it apparently has kept Vicki Marble at her home, where none of her inane rantings today are being overheard or reported on . . .

My wife was working upstairs. She came down a few minutes ago, to report the power is out in LoDo, so she can’t patch into her desktop at the office. Her company is down 20th St. from Coors Field.

Snow amounts aren't close to a record at my location in Denver — probably only about 8-10" — but the wind this morning was noticeable, taking out a couple of bare branches from a mature shade tree. One, around 3" in diameter and 10-12 feet long, looks like it broke just ahead of a knot, so it may have been bored out. So, a bit of sawing in my future.
I managed to avoid going outside all day, but I was going to b/c my roommate had a job interview scheduled for today and he doesn't know the buses around Longmont as well as I do, so I was gonna go with him. Luckily, he rescheduled to tomorrow, but, when he did, the person he talked to got snippy and annoyed with him b/c he dared to try to reschedule an interview over a blizzard.
He needs to find a better opportunity. My company pre-emptively rescheduled an interview because of the blizzard.
Yeah. It seems like a shitty place to work, tbh. He's considering not taking the job if offered and looking for a better opportunity.
Out on the high dry plains we are mainly getting wind. Late 60s building like the one our bookstore is in (on Main Street in Lamar) have 'wind magnets' built in to help keep the doors closed during gusts.
Today I had ours on max, but I still didn't manage to keep the door from blowing open until I put a box with *15* bricks in it right in front to hold it closed.
Lowers the customer throughput, but at least the store's intact.
Snow totals across the state – from 20" in Nederland to 2" in Niwot. We have ~3-4" here in Morgan County.
Hot damn. Longmont got some of the least snow of all of Colorado.

The winds were so strong the snow was blowing horizontally, so only 2 or 3 inches stuck out here in NE Park Hill. But the moisture content was pretty high, so what stuck was mostly ice. None of the light fluffy stuff for me. Time to break out the kitty litter and sprinkle my front steps!
The wind and ice blew out a lot of transformetsvin my neighborhood.
