I don’t mind the tax itself, our customers are pretty price insensitive and we’re hitting our best quarter ever. The giant PITA is what we have to do to determine what part of a sale is taxable. We’ll spend more figuring it all out and administering it than the state will collect I’m guessing.
In other words the big problem is not the tax, it’s the idiotic tax system we have with home rule cities and the do nothing leadership at DoR.
There’s at least one city that recognizes that internet-based businesses are an industry unto themselves. That city, although in serious financial trouble, recognizes they are better off with internet-based businesses than without them.
That seems to be quite different from what Colorado thinks.

I honestly don’t know whether the healthcare act will increase or reduce overall costs, but I do know that your glib statement above plays on an error in logic. There is, in theory, nothing remarkable about “get(ting) all this new health care from the same health care infrasructure, at no additional cost.” That’s because the mere fact of the passage of the law means that it is not “the same health care infrastructure” in every respect. The nature of the changes determine any changes in efficiencies.

He did his own whip count Sunday morning and figured out that Pelosi had enough votes without him and his gang. He told someone that he had to either accept the executive order that was handed him as an olive branch, or get nothing at all, because they had the votes already.
Of course that means that some of the Dem “No” votes got dispensations from Pelosi, because Stupak was still “controlling” 8 votes or so at the end.
There was some serious, behind the scenes wrangling going on last weekend.

Opinions turn favorable on health care plan
WASHINGTON – Americans by 9 percentage points have a favorable view of the health care overhaul that President Obama signed into law Tuesday, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, a notable turnaround from surveys before the vote that showed a plurality against it.
By 49%-40% those surveyed say it was “a good thing” rather than a bad one that Congress passed the bill. Half describe their reaction in positive terms, as “enthusiastic” or “pleased,” while about four in 10 describe it in negative ways, as “disappointed” or “angry.”
The largest single group, 48%, calls the bill “a good first step” that should be followed by more action on health care. An additional 4% also have a favorable view, saying the bill makes the most important changes needed in the nation’s health care system.
The findings are encouraging for the White House and congressional Democrats, who get higher ratings than congressional Republicans for their work on the issue.
No one gets overwhelmingly positive ratings on the issue, but Obama fares the best: 46% say his work has been excellent or good; 31% call it poor. Congressional Democrats get an even split: 32% call their efforts good or excellent; 33% poor.
The standing of congressional Republicans is more negative. While 26% rate their work on health care as good or excellent, a larger group, 34%, say it has been poor.

Repubs not wanting this bill to pass had nothing to do with its merits or faults, it always had to do with the advantage they lose if something good happens to Americans through the work of the dems. The corporate liars and apologists are fucked, and they deserve every bit of it.
