Worst attack site on Romanoff ever?

  • by: StrykerK2

So if you’ve spent any time on twitter in the last day you might have noticed a handle “Romanofflies” that tweeted anyone imaginable with a link to this site:

http://princetonwritersgroup.org/

Is there more coming?  Is that really bad photo it?  Are these the same artistic geniuses that painted the god-awful looking Bennet short bus?

Seriously…this is just sad.  For the Bennet campaign: please try harder.  I mean I know you’ve blown through the millions you’ve raised and Bennet had to kick the campaign a few bucks recently, but can’t you at least try to put up a decent looking attack site?

I mean it’s been registered since February of this year — you couldn’t do anything with it except this photo and a series of tweets linking to it?

That’s just sad.

    1. I’ve written a few to the campaign, but I’ve been pretty clear on the whole “not a paid blogger” thing.

Come on really — we can’t laugh together for a minute?  I mean if someone spent money (check out the fact it’s private registration of a real site — not some livejournal crap) for something like this against Bennet, it would be just as ridiculous.

As for more people seeing it?  OH NOES! It’s a badly done picture of Romanoff with a long nose!

      1. Seriously…this is just sad.  For the Bennet campaign: please try harder.

Paid or not you are a shill.  Smear, crap, and bs is your only set of tools.

        1. This is certainly a stupid website, but we wouldn’t call it a real “attack” on Romanoff. It doesn’t even say anything — just a picture.

          1. here is the real mystery though.  In all seriousness, why?  If this popped up on some free site, I wouldn’t think anything of it and wouldn’t have written this diary.

Someone actually paid to register this domain, even caring enough to go through a private registration.  That’s what’s weird here.

            1. But it is also silly to say that the Bennet campaign had something to do with this. It’s pretty obvious that someone just did this on their own. You really think a campaign would spend any time or resources here?

              1. because I would put money down that a few of the handles on here are paid bennet staff.  I could even tell you which, but of course you would ban me for outing so I’ll refrain.  I do fully support them spending their money that way though.  Those TV ads are just annoying and you can only stand so many.

As for who created that site?  No I don’t know, but I think we can have a serious conversation for a minute here.

Could it be someone planned a full attack site and never got around to it?  Could be.  It was registered shortly before the caucus.  You run a site — you know the costs of maintaining something like that.  Similarly named sites are 1K a pop (look up “who owns this wesbite” or something similar — you bring up companies that want to sell you similar sites and it will tell you about the registration).

Someone who wanted to do that for kicks wouldn’t sit on it for months.  Like I said — really, really weird.

                1. It doesn’t cost much money to create a website. It costs money to create a complex website like the type most big campaigns use, but you could have made this Romanoff site for virtually nothing. $15 for domain name registration. Probably $10-30 for hosting, since there is no bandwidth. A lot of domain registration sites also provide free templates for websites, especially those as simplistic as this princetonwritersgroup site.

                  1. check out godaddy or any of the other registration sites for something with a similar name to this one – they are a lot more pricy.  Add on the hidden ownership, and you’re talking about something expensive.

                    1. Domain names all cost the same amount — it doesn’t make any difference whether they are long or short, or what words are used.

What you’re talking about is if you are buying a domain name that is already registered by someone else, in which case the seller can drive up the price. But if princetonwritersgroup had never been registered before, then it would cost the same $15 that it costs to register any domain name.

Private registration is also cheap — $15-20 usually. Honestly, Strkyer — it doesn’t take a lot of money, time or effort to create a basic website. If every website out there was at least $1,000, then there would be a lot fewer websites because most people couldn’t afford it.

                    2. It would take a lot of time, but not a lot of money. $15 for the domain name, $50-75 for the upfront cost to use SoapBlox software, and $15-20 for hosting every month. That’s pretty much it.

                    3. then again you are the operator here — not the designer, so I suppose maybe you don’t know.

Big names cost more.  Do the search I said.  You will see that similar sites to that one cost real money.

Which is to say–though I hardly needed to go through this exercise to find this out–you don’t know what you are talking about.

                    5. PrincetonTrading.com ($399) PrincetonGallery.com ($1,299) PrincetonBroker.com ($1,688) PrincetonMaine.com ($799) PrincetonCleaners.com ($1,188) PrincetonImage.com ($477)

                    6. Not that explaining things to you several times matter, but if someone already owns the site, they own the name and can charge more.  If no one has yet registered the site, it’s less.  To pretend that someone paid $1188 for the site you said was somehow secretly bought by the evil candidate you despise is, again, unsubstantiated, unfounded, and factless.  MUS.

Personally, I find your propensity to repeatedly MUS more offensive than certain people reposting information that another certain person posted about themselves, but that’s just me.  If it were my site, however, after your ninth or tenth unsubstantiated smear you’d be TOSsed.

                    7. Only one of us in this conversation has actually set up a large website. We know what we’re talking about — because we’ve done it before. You’re wrong. Sorry. It’s not a matter of opinion. You’re misunderstanding the information you’re finding in your search.

        2. I have a lot more tools than those 3.  I enjoy mocking, demeaning, and on occasion actually engaging in serious dialogue.  Mocking is usually the best though.  I mean who doesn’t enjoy some good mocking?

            1. how about a few days ago when I jumped to Raf’s defense when botw started screaming that he was a Romanoff plant or something.  I mean I managed to both mock Raf while having a serious conversation about how he’s a real person and a real Bennet supporter.

              1. smearing and slander and stupid shit repeated over and over and over again may seem like mocking to the stupid and slanderous, but I would not call it such.

    1. As the diary says, there is a twitter handle “romanofflies” that has now put up about 50 tweets linking to it in the span of a few hours.

  1. My god you are pathetic. If Bennet did something to expose Romanoff’s many lies it would be a lot better than that. In fact he did and it is. Check out the Truth section on Bennet’s website that exposes Romanoff’s lies. That site you tried to accuse Bennet’s people of doing is probably some angry ex-girlfriend or maybe somebody who really knows Romanoff. It could also be the Repubs gearing up to take on either candidate on the longshot Romanoff wins. A couple days ago a coworker who is a die-hard Repub sent me to a site called whoismichaelbennet.com and talking about how easy it’s going to be for Buck to blow Senator Bennet out of the water in November. Sad but that’s how those guys play. That stupid site you linked to? Maybe that’s what you really do with your time so you can try to blame it on Senator Bennet. Don’t you get embarrassed when you look in the mirror?
