Hate to break it to you, but anyone who would vote for a man who wants to close the Department of Education, privatize Social Security, and deny rape victims the right to choose, IS NOT A DEMOCRAT.
Hate to break it to you, there are not that many people out there who would admit to being a democrat. If Bennet just gets those who will vote this November who admit to being Democrats, he will top out at about 30%. I think he will do a little better than that, about 40-45% personally.

Forgive me if I am jaded but Norton had the fix quote a poll that never materialized and if Bennet promised on Wednesday it would be out on Thursday, sure seems suspicious. At the least, he has not kept his word.

Apparantly the reporter, because Buck endorsed Maes and Suthers labeled it as a Unity event. Other than ColoradoPols nobody has suggested it had anything to do with Norton or that she was invited.
In as much as the polling data (perhaps other then Bennets which he has not yet released, his promises to the contrary) Buck gets a much higher percentage of republicans suporting him than Bennet does of dems so it is unlikely they will feel the need to have such a rally.
I hear more than 10 people at Andrews birthday party signed up to work on Buck’s campaign. Seems like that unity thing did not work so well for Michael.

2. Buck’s spokesman saying it was a “mistake.” Once again, has Fox 21 confirmed that? Should Pols take down everything a campaign spokesman says is “wrong?” I doubt it.
And you did lie about what the reporter says in the video. You said that “only Pols has suggested” this rally was related to Norton, but that is plainly what the anchor said too. I don’t need to argue reality with you, it’s right in front of my face.

my senior Opposition Researcher forwarded this to me for a laugh:
I received it as a forwarded email, and can forward it to someone who’s got teh skilz to post it as it appears in my browser, nifty party logo and all. The Subject of the email is quite clear: “Unity Rally with Ken Buck”
But what does “Unity Rally” mean ? To me, it means Jane Norton telling her supporters to now support Ken. But that is not explicitly stated in the announcement. Rather, it talks about “we want you to join us [El Paso County Republican Party] in uniting behind [Ken.]”
p.s.: I worked at the Flying W when I was in college, a little. I used to punch dogies at the location of this rally.

Just so you know, Michael Bennet is comfortable around Romanoff supporters and didn’t have to miss 130 days of work to win his party’s nomination. He spent his time trying to help our country out of the deep deep hole that Bucks predecessors in the Republican Party dug but this one is already in the bag for Ken Buck so you don’t have to be afraid of Michael Bennet do you? Buck is ahead by about a gazillion points so kick back and relax H-man, you have nothing to worry about.

Buck went to public school. Therefore, Buck is in favor of homeschooling. Oh, I get it, he coached HS football while he was going to law school at a Catholic High School so that is where you get his “Jesus Loves Him” from.
If I were Bennet, given how his tenure and financial prowess at the Denver Schools was recently skewered, I would stay away from that for a while.

The post was in response to smack about Buck wanting to force children to have home schooling. That was nonsense so I replied in kind.
Buck graduated from Princeton undergrad, was law review at the U of Wyoming and taught at DU law school. I think he has a reasonable basis in intellect and experience to be a US Senator.

The fact that Bennet went to a private school and was a superintendent for a large public school district should give him a perspective on the the whole spectrum of educational challenges facing our children.
The fact that he made mistakes while at DPS goes with the territory when you try to do things. Someone once said “Show me someone who has never made a mistake and I’ll show you someone who has never done anything”. I would bet you haven’t made any mistakes in your life H-man. When people learn from their mistakes they end up being better and it wasn’t like no one else misread the markets either. From the homeowners who bought at the top of the housing bubble to the Republican Wall Street bankers there were plenty of mistakes made. What I liked about Bennet’s take on educational reform is that he wants the less affluent schools to have 21st century tools like computers and the Internet so kids can take online classes and be part of bigger groups. He has been involved in developing ways to move our traditional education systems forward. I’ll take his experiences including his mistakes in regards to education reform any day over someone who can’t decide whether to get rid of the Department of Education or not.
Other than whether the education reforms are top down, from fed to states, or are generated locally, I don’t see any difference on where Bennet or Buck come from on Education. Buck’s kids recently went through public school in Colorado, one is a senior at West Point, the other a soph at Clemson. Painting him as unaware or unsympathetic to public education is not justified.
I am not all over Bennet for his performance at the Denver Public Schools, and yes I have and continue to make plenty of mistakes, but I still would not lead with his DPS experience because he got killed by Romanoff about it.
The trend in the Republican Party is to school the elites and scion of wealth and then dumb down the masses so that they can be easily manipulated and the way to do that is to make a quality education unaffordable except for the privileged few and then push Bible thumping prophecy as the absolute truth. This is why there is so much anti-science and anti-intellectual propaganda originating from the Republican Party. They want the minister to tell the people what is true and not the professor. When people are educated they tend to understand things like facts which support critical issues like Climate Change. You can see this manipulation of Republican voters by seeing how quickly they went from President Obama being under the sway of Reverend Wright to President Obama being a Muslim. Republican politicians want an electorate that will believe anything they say no matter how outrageous and to get to that point they need to limit education. It is my opinion that Republicans are basically anti-education and would prefer that people were home school using nothing but the Bible.

So he is the Republican elite? He is going to go to the NRSC for policy advice? All the Republican elected officials in Colorado and ever Republican elected Senator, except for Jim DeMint, backed his opponent so he owes them what?
To understand why the individual Ken Buck appreciates public education you need a little background. Ken Buck’s father grew up poor in the depression in Greeley. Buck’s grandfather had a shoe repair shop. Buck’s father was one of five kids.
Buck’s father graduated from Greeley High School, now Greeley Central, was admitted to UC Boulder and worked his way through college. After Pearl Harbor, the then seniors were allowed to graduate early to enlist in the service.
Buck’s father joined the army. He was discharged at the end of the war as a Captain. There was a lot of turn over from people getting killed. But for those that made it, there was the GI bill.
Buck’s father graduated from NYU law school. He went at night and worked during the day and had the GI bill to thank for his being able to do it.
No, Buck’s father was not the president of a fine private college like Bennet’s, which is a real accomplishment. Buck’s father got everything he had in life because of public education and the GI bill and don’t think for a minute that does not drive Buck’s view of its importance.
The Buck is a Republican so he is against education is nothing, but ignorant. He recognizes, as do most educators, that the most important factor in education is engaged parents.
Buck is currently getting grief on coloradopols for the earmark he obtained to build a Juvenile Assesment Center in Greeley. It has helped reduce crime there 50% in the 6 years he has been DA.
Buck meets with the kids and their parents together. You know what his pitch is to keep the kids on the straight and narrow? He tells the kids and parents about how much more money the kid will make over the course of their lives if they finish high school and go to college. Economics sells, not morality. The parents respond. The kid succeeds.
Does that sound like somebody that doesn’t give a shit about public education? If you are smart enough to figure out people and what drives them, you know that the Buck is a Republican so he does not care about public education shoe does not fit. I suspect you now get it.
Where does Princeton educated Ken Buck stand on the Colorado Childrens Amendment (SB 199 2007) that preserved the mill levy to help schools in rural and less affluent districts? Does he support it or does he want to eliminate it and if he wants to eliminate then what are his alternatives for funding education in less affluent areas of our state?
Longer answer, Buck believes education should be decided at lower levels in the governmental food chain than the federal government and he is running for the US Senate. I suspect that in the US Senate he would leave that fight to those at the state and school district level. Buck has spoken about transfering programs to the state level in education, not defunding educational programs.
