As CNN reports, Maine Sen. Susan Collins won’t say if she voted today for Donald Trump as the Republican nominee for President, which is as good as saying that she did not:
GOP Sen. Susan Collins, who is up for reelection in Maine, would not say on Tuesday if she voted for President Trump in her state’s primary.
She twice declined to answer the question. [Pols emphasis]
“I already answered that question,” Collins told CNN when asked if she supported Trump’s reelection bid.
Collins’ spokesperson referred CNN to comments the senator made last Friday when she was asked if she is supporting Trump. But in that interview, she didn’t directly answer when asked if she backed the President’s 2020 bid.
Collins’ non-answer answer got us thinking about Colorado Sen. Cory Gardner, who today will get his first opportunity to actually vote for Donald Trump. During the 2016 nominating process, Gardner supported Florida Sen. Marco Rubio; after Rubio cratered, Gardner shifted allegiance to Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. Gardner famously refused to vote for Trump in the 2016 General Election, instead writing in the name “Mike Pence.”
Things are different now. Gardner has voted with Trump 98% of the time since Trump took office (though Trump rounded that figure up to 100% during his recent visit to Colorado Springs). If Gardner didn’t vote for Trump today, there’s no way in hell he’s ever going to admit it…and there’s no place for a write-in candidate anyway. Still, the response CNN received from Collins makes the question equally worthy to ask of Gardner.
So, Sen. Gardner, did you vote for President Trump today?

Don’t hold your breath Alva. You should spend some time in Yuma and talk to a few local leaders still peeved he wouldn’t publicly get behind a fairly recent school bond initiative for the Yuma School District (that lost narrowly) for fear he’d be painted as ‘supporting a new tax’ by some dimwit in the party.
He’s a real profile in courage.
That is simply shameful. Rail against AOC and leftie boogiepersons until you're blue in the face.
But when the future of the kids are at stake on your own turf, stand up and be counted!
God, I miss the likes of Forest Burns and Bev Bledsoe.
