  1. My Pet Goat —

That reason, Representative Nancy Pelosi (D – CA), may actually be enough to support it.  Nancy is a smart Representative.

  2. My Pet Goat —

33 percent today agree with an Impreachment … the same as it was for President Clinton.  However, censure may be enough.  I agree that it may not be the right thing to do in a time of war.  Bush has protected the country since 911, gone after terrorists worldwide.  That is a VERY good record, no matter our political differences over how the campaign was conducted.

  3. Yoda Yo and John Wayne, the reason that Jay was not invited is because while the gang of R’s in that race take shots at each other, Jay can sit in the back and say nothing.  At the end of the debate he comes away unscathed, while the rest of the crowd is beat up by each other.  Think back to the Holtzman, Ritter Beauprez “debate” earlier on.

  4. I Do not know what you are talking about ManoftheHour Lionel will best anyone when it comes to debating.  I think he knows a thing or two from when he was on the city council and constantly employed his verbal mastery to champion his causes through the mundane bureaucry.  So come July fifth I know who will come out on top.

  5. Man of the Hour, I would agree except the people of CD5 deserve to make an informed decision on their future.  Jay’s positions on the war are correct, have been proven (he does write policy for US Northern Command) and the “Rs” are a pathetic mess and as I have said before, cowards.

The people deserve to hear what their leaders will do. Our children are dying in a country for values that are not our own – the Rs can not control people in a true Democracy, and yes…the press already knows.  Show up for the debate and see democracy in action!

  6. Lionel is really not smart or sharp.  As a matter fact, I have been unimpressed by him the most.

No fire, No intellect, No new ideas, No humor, no insight, just more of the same

  7. Darth Maul, let me ask you something. What does Jay Fawcett not understand about our current “war on terror” and the need to stand unwaveringly behind our President to defeat this brand of Islamic radicalism. This is no time to begin questioning the decisions and actions of our resolute leader, President Bush.

  8. Pathetic mess Darth Maul?  How much money has Jay Fawcett raised?  Who has endorsed him?  And do any of those endorsements come with checks or even the promise of money in the future?  The people of CD-5 have spoken time and time again in previous elections and they always speak in voices echoing current Republican sentiments.  I for one am glad that Fawcett was not included in this debate because I want to hear what someone who has the actual possibility of being elected will say.

  11. Crankaholic —

I appreciate your position.  And you may be right.  However, we have a list of items that are disagreeable with our current Leadership.  And the polls from all the pollers do not lie.

  12. Crankaholic, you are truly an idiot!

Most of America does not stand behind Bush! Even most of Colorado Springs knows he is on the wrong track.  It seems to me that there are a lot of politicians that can send people to die, but can’t wear the uniform themselves.  Crank has more nerve that anyone.

What has the war accomplished for America?  Are you safer? Is our economy better? At this point we are even sure that Saddam was “an eminent threat”.  So, why are we dying?

And as for Cranks supporters – when you give me a former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (My guess is these guys know what is happening), you may get my attention.

And BTW, I wear the uniform!

  13. Perhaps you missed the DailyKOS endorsement.  That will be significant money. Or perhaps you missed the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staffs endorsement. The list goes on.

  14. Look everyone, I know that there is a significant amount of people out there who have yet to make up there mind as to just who they will be voting for this November.  To help some of you solve this dilema I strongly suggest attending this debate on July Fifth.  As a side note I am thrilled that JAy was able to procure an invitation.  I for one am looking forward to seeing the six Republicans stand there with their mouths a gape in awe as Jay runs metaphorical circles around him utilizing his unbelievible skills as an orator.  Even if you are not sure Jay is for you go to the debate it could be an eye opening experience.

  15. To all Fawcett fans:
Has anyone forgotten that we live in Colorado a state where the Democrat to Republican voter ratio is almost 3 to 1.  Hello?!?!?  Fawcett can get all the fuddy duddy endorsements he wants nothing will help him overcome that ratio short of a mass exodous.  Oh and I also feel obliged to pint out that the reason he was not invited to the Forum that will be held at the VFW is because the title of the Forum was the 5th district Republican Candidate Forum on military affairs and the war in Iraq.  Oh and Darth Maul I am pretty sure if you want to get into a pissing contest over length of endorsement lists you will just be embrassed by the size of Doug Lamborn’s.

  16. All this is funny.  At the end of the day, we all need to ask, as Ronald Reagan did years ago – “Are you better off now than you were 8 years ago?”

If not, then it is time to give a new voice a shot.  Jay appears to be logical and well informed.  The Republican candidates are running to the far right – the far religious right – which scares me and the makes me nervous about our future. Division among citizens and holy crusades, has never worked at any point in history. As a matter of fact the results have always been disastrous.

All that said, I am listening and want to hear them all. And like many of you I will make a decision that suits me and my family and looks after our well being.

  17. Don’t live in CD5, don’t really care, but I gotta comment this statement from “Lamborn is my god”

“I am pretty sure if you want to get into a pissing contest over length of endorsement lists you will just be embrassed by the size of Doug Lamborn’s.”

This the same Doug Lamborn who is being endorsed by nobody congressmen from other states? As the saying goes, it ain’t size that matters.

  18. You are missing the point Lamborn, at the beginning of this congressional race the Republicans could not wait to debate Jay.  The only reason they did not was because JAy values fairness.  He said that he would be glad to debate if ALL OF THE CANDIDATES were included.  To go through the trouble to attepmt, notice that I say attempt, to exclude him now is a slap in the face and goes to show just how much the Republicans are fatally underestimating Jay.  Oh and to the size of endorsement lists comment you made I would like to refer you back to the old idiom that applies to a multitude of things: it is not the quantity that matters but the quality of that quantity.  TO dumb that down for you if you are endorsed by a mass quantity of know-nothing idiots then what does that say about you and your campaign.  Jay’s endorsements matter and ultimately I am confident that the intelligent voters of Colorado will decided rightly.

  19. Well the numbers, there is an interesting concept.  As pointed out in many national polls, many republicans are not voting Republican.  The Unaffliated voters are voting Democrat by the buckets.
    R – 186,000
    U – 132,000
    D – 85,000

Unaff, Dems and SOME Repubs is a win for Jay!

Traditional Rs feel their party has been hijacked.  And well Jay, he is a military guy, business owner, Academy Grad – not your tree hugging, Nancy Pelosi liberal.

We will see what happens in Nov.

  20. Nothing wrong with environmentalists like Nancy Pelosi.  She is right about protecting the environment.  I would support her agenda first before any lying neo-GOP individual.

  21. I really do beleive that the right candidate will win in CD-5.  I also believe that that candidate is Jay Fawcett.  When I started investiagtin furhter into him and his stances on issues that are important to me I discover that he is not what I would term a run of the mill Democrat, not to say that those people are bad as my constituent Patriot pointed out.  He is in fact very independently minded.  I am of the opinion that come November Republicans that are feeling disenfranchised by their own party will find there way to Jay’s camp.  I would also like to congraulate Jay on not only gaining admitance to the Debate on July fifth but on the endorsement he received through Dailykos.  I hear that he has already begun to receive donations.  Cheers to all those good folks whose ranks I will soon be joining as a Jay Fawcett funder.

  22. GOP —

I would like to hear the spiel from ONE Republican, explaining how another 6 months of placing our service men and women will make any difference in what is happening in Iraq.  At this point, it appears that a dry period of no change will occur at this course.  How many years will it take before we bring in contractors?

It seems to me, that we should be hiring Iraqis to do the rebuilding.  As I understand it, a greater than 70 percent of the population is un-employed in Iraq?  If that is the case, then I don’t understand if the Iraqis want work, that they are not offered that work.  But obviously, we have made no progress outside of the green zone?

  23. RUMOR,

I wonder what the chance is that the Bush Administration purposefully leaked the information about the overseas banking spying to the New York Times?  I have a feeling that this may have been some payback against the liberals.

  24. Jay Fawcett will win the debate.  Crank will remind folks of the runner up in high school debates.  Lamborn will say “maybe” a lot.  Duncan Bremer will do well but will provide the wrong answers when they are analyzed the next day.  Rivera will fare so poorly that folks will wonder how he ever became their mayor.  The General will do pretty well.  Anderson will do better than any other Republican.

  25. I just thought that I would throw this out there and see what all of the nice people on this website thought about it.  Am I the only one in the world that thinks that Bill Winter whines?  I have been reading the things he has been posting on Dailykos ever since it broke that Dailykos endorsed Jay Fawcett and not him.  I think that as long as he continues to bicker at his own party Tom will have no probelm winning his district yet again. Keep on whining Billy and I will be proud to see Tom in office yet again.

  26. Tom’s # 1 Fan … I don’t know anything about Bill Winter (don’t live in CD6, don’t really care) but I do know that CD6 would elect Jabba the Hut if he were the Republican nominee.

  27. How many of the candidates in CD 5 actively served in the military, and who are they?  (And that excludes gubernatorial candidates dressing up like Tom Cruise in “Top Gun”…)

  28. Speaking of the flag burning amendment, Republican Senator Orrin Hatch said the amendment would:
“restore the constitution to what it was before unelected jurists changed it five to four.” He went on to say, “Five lawyers decided 48 states were wrong.”

Those five unelected lawyers, who Hatch holds with so much contempt you can hear the venom dripping on his every word, those lawyers are commonly referred to as United States Supreme Court Justices. They are the highest jurists in all the land, and they are the governmental equal of Senator Hatch. He and they hold the same rank and power in our system of government.

So where does a United States Senator get off talking about justices of the Supreme Court as though they’re two-bit thugs? This is the same kind of language Hatch’s Republican colleagues have used repeatedly to paint the court as dangerous and even worthy of death, according to one Republican Senator and at least one religious right activist. It’s what made Republican Justice Sandra Day O’Connor complain that such intemperate language could incite violence against Supreme Court justices.

Is this the way members of Congress should be talking about an entire branch of our government? About our entire system of checks and balances? Is this the best way to honor the framers of the Constitution, the founders of our country, on this upcoming 4th of July? Trashing the very system of government our men and women in Iraq are giving their lives for? And inciting violence against judges as a way of achieving political goals?

Orrin Hatch owes the Supreme Court, our soldiers, and all Americans an apology.

  29. From the Washington Post:

Republicans on Friday looked to wrest a political victory from a legal defeat in the Supreme Court, serving notice to Democrats that they must back President Bush on how to try suspects at Guantanamo Bay or risk being branded as weak on terrorism.

What a bunch of crap. What Bush/Cheney did was against the law. Democrats CONTROL the high ground. Do Americans want to be no better than the killers on 911? Do we want to become no better than the long litany of fascist dictators who’ve polluted history?

Bush/Cheney were WRONG and SCOTUS affirmed it. End of story!

  30. It has been reported that Dan Willis and Andy Romanoff called a little special session of their own last night. To undress the illegal immigrant problem they seem to be having around the pool these days. I hear it was very very productive.

  31. Special Session seems to have his own little fantasy.  Get a life of your own and stop jabbing into someone else’s personal affairs.

People like you, attacked Clinton for his personal life, and then allow a village idiot to stomp on our constitutional rights, kill hundreds of thousands of lives, piss off the entire world while you idly sit by and concern yourself with BS like that.

Get your special session with a shrink.
