I haven’t seen any difference in the terms of campaign strategy from Tipton. It’s like it’s 2008 all over again.
it is a perversion of the language. Like letting tax cuts expire is “raising taxes” but getting rid of Social Security is just an exercise in fiscal responsibility.
How do you explain that he is ahead in the polls and favored to win?
What is Salazar doing that is worse?

Is it just because the district is more Republican leaning than anytime in the last 5 years or is there something else in play?

It’s true that 538 has CO-3 going to Tipton. I think it’s going to change by election time – IF Salazar does any campaigning. Of course, with Tipton helping him out, who needs friends?

Registered Dems: 32.8% 33.3%
Unaffiliated: 31.8 28.2%
Salazar over came a 2% disadvanage when everything was breaking for Dems in 08. Now he has a 4.4% disadvantage and to be kind things don’t appear to be breaking for the Dems.
If they were, we never would have had Democrats representing District 55 as we have had for 12 of the last 22 years.
Nonetheless, your daily prognostications are welcome for what they are–pure shilling bullshit.

Salazar has run a lackadaisical campaign and has had very poor staff support.
It’s not too late. Yet, this race never should have been close. Tipton was considered a long shot and this race would not have even been targeted had Salazar worked hard and organized a strong campaign.
Pols, if you’re going to attack Tipton for caring that it was 9/11 anniversary enough to mention it as a congressional candidate, you’re going to have to explain how Democrats have done a THING to keep Americans safe since 9/11.
Because you haven’t, all the things you hate that Republicans did to keep us safe are why. And not even Obama will take them back now that he is president!

It appears that John Salazar is in danger of losing to an undistinguished brick-a-brac salesman that he beat by nearly two to one just four years ago.

Tipton is definitely real. That’s bad for him. Knowing him is what makes him unelectable.
If you think that Salazar will lose Pueblo and the San Luis Valley, and thereby lose CD-3, you don’t know CD-3.
The wingnuts in Mesa County like to think otherwise, but I don’t see Tipton pulling support away from Salazar in Pueblo and the valley.
For a sleazy, second-rate politician like Scott Tipton to try to appropriate and use for political purposes the brave and noble phrase by the folks on United 93 is nothing less than disgusting.
