What you can do to stay healthy and fight back this week (April 13)

Just like you, we’re doing our best to stay productive during this difficult period, and making sure that when the stay-at-home order is lifted we’re healthy and ready to get back to full steam. I’m incredibly proud of my co-workers, my neighbors, our public safety officials, and most [1] of our elected officials like Gov. Jared Polis for everything they’re doing to get us through this. And I’m not alone: new polling today shows 75% of Coloradans approve of Gov. Polis’ management of the COVID-19 emergency. [2]

When Washington lets us down, Coloradans step up.

While we all do our part to get Colorado through this by staying at home and wearing a non-medical mask when we have to go out, here are a few ways you can virtually make a difference for the week of April 13:

Keep Abortion Providers Safe: Face Mask Donation Pledge

Help us collect 400 face masks for reproductive healthcare workers in Colorado!

💫Healthcare workers are on the front lines of this global pandemic, reproductive healthcare workers are no different. Keeping abortion safe during COVID-19 means making sure providers and clinic staff have the equipment they need to continue providing essential services to our community.

Climate Crisis : An Online Panel Event

Analysis of the path to 100% Clean Energy. A panel of experts, organizers, and community members.

When: Monday, April 13 at 6:00pm

Virtual Town Hall with AG Phil Weiser

Abortion is an essential medical procedure, and remains accessible in Colorado even as states across the country attempt to use the COVID-19 pandemic as an excuse to block abortion and further restrict reproductive rights. We are thrilled to have Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser joining us for a virtual townhall about abortion access and how his office is working hard to make sure this Constitutional right remains protected.

When: Tuesday, April 14 at 5:30pm

ACLU of Colorado: Know Your Rights: Immigration

Join us on April 14 at 6:30 pm as we reveal our newly redesigned Know Your Rights training booklet and discuss constitutional rights, scenarios, and resources for immigrant communities.

When: Tuesday, April 14 at 6:30pm

Conservation Colorado: Virtual Climate Action Training

What is Colorado’s Climate Action Plan in the time of COVID-19? What have decision-makers done so far to ensure we’re on track to meet our climate targets? Who is the Air Quality Control Commission and why do they matter? Why does sharing my climate story to the Air Quality Control Commission matter? How do I write effective comments and give powerful spoken testimony at the next virtual Air Quality Control Commission hearing on Thursday, April 16th?

When: Tuesday, April 14 at 6:00pm

Virtual Town Hall with Secretary of State Jena Griswold

Join New Era Colorado and Colorado’s Secretary of State Jena Griswold for a virtual town hall, this Thursday, April 16 from 11AM-12PM MT. We’ll be covering options to vote safely in the June primaries and the November general election, the Secretary of State’s response to COVID-19, and other info about the upcoming elections. We’ll also be celebrating 17-year-olds for turning out in droves in March for their first primary elections and answering your questions for Secretary Griswold.

When: Thursday, April 16 at 11:00am

What the LGBTQ Health? Closing the Gap Virtual Tour

In our effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus, One Colorado has postponed all ‘What the LGBTQ Health?’ tour stops—but just because we are practicing social distancing doesn’t mean that we can’t continue to build community. We still plan to visit communities across the state once it is safe to do so. In the meantime, we will be offering three statewide virtual options to learn, discuss, and create community!

When: Sunday, April 20 at 2:00pm

Thanks again for everything you do in good times and bad to leave Colorado better than we found it. We’ll be back soon with more ways to fight back.
