Back in May of 2009, we first employed what seemed to be an apt analogy to describe GOP Secretary of State candidate Scott Gessler: “Fox for Henhouse Secretary.” At the time, we were commenting on Gessler’s strained opposition to a petition reform bill before the legislature–he’s given us a number of opportunities since then to reuse the term. It’s not often you have the biggest election fine delinquent in the state running for the job of chief election law enforcer.
Apparently, somebody else out there agreed it was fitting. In mailboxes statewide:

A real live fox is pretty damn cute. You want to bring it into your life.
A real live chicken is, well, dinner and ugly to boot.
Who is paying for this late mailer?
I’m not sure when these hit the homes. But in 08, 80 percent of the vote was cast BEFORE election day. At this point, it’s a waste of postage.
The Neighborhood Project Independent Expenditure Committee filed an IE report on 10/25/10 that said they had spent $83,000 on a Gessler hit piece. This is likely where it came from.
They also spent a similar amount on a Stapleton hit piece at the same time.
Guess the CO Sec of State project $$$ influx didn’t help Bernie one iota with this cra* but at least it was nice to see them waste their money.
Just needs the red eyes.
This stuff arrives in my mailbox everyday and goes straight to recycling without even a glance.
How many people actually read this stuff?
Really. I make my friends and neighbors hand them over.
Point made all the same… I rarely on the way to never read them.
But I’m a junkie and like to know what’s being said.
Maybe Gessler, win or lose, should look into electioneering violations of this website.
Or are you just violating Rule #2?
I’m sure the mailer was just a “fan” of this website and echoed it. And I don’t know CP’s 501(c) status, so I guess I could have said “possible” in there. There have been threats against blogs much less partisan that CP (which leans consistently in one direction) when it comes to electioneering, and I would hate to see “Colorado’s #1 Blog” get hit with this.
I hope this is not too little too late. Did Buescher pay for this?
