Sorry About That, Scott Gessler

Back in May of 2009, we first employed what seemed to be an apt analogy to describe GOP Secretary of State candidate Scott Gessler: “Fox for Henhouse Secretary.” At the time, we were commenting on Gessler’s strained opposition to a petition reform bill before the legislature–he’s given us a number of opportunities since then to reuse the term. It’s not often you have the biggest election fine delinquent in the state running for the job of chief election law enforcer.

Apparently, somebody else out there agreed it was fitting. In mailboxes statewide:

    1. The Neighborhood Project Independent Expenditure Committee filed an IE report on 10/25/10 that said they had spent $83,000 on a Gessler hit piece. This is likely where it came from.

They also spent a similar amount on a Stapleton hit piece at the same time.

      1. I’m sure the mailer was just a “fan” of this website and echoed it.  And I don’t know CP’s 501(c) status, so I guess I could have said “possible” in there.  There have been threats against blogs much less partisan that CP (which leans consistently in one direction) when it comes to electioneering, and I would hate to see “Colorado’s #1 Blog” get hit with this.
