Didn’t get the quotes right. It’s from a press release from the Jeffco Clerk dated today’s date and just posted at http://www.votejeffco.com
Or +1. I’ve never been good with negative numbers. I dislike the diary news and agree with your assessment.
A 197 vote mandate for the Republican agenda! OK, now we can get to 0% taxes for corporations and the uber-wealthy, no regulation on polluting industries, the deportation of all gays, and mandatory Zoloft for EVERBODY!! (Big Pharma will be so happy)
NO Joints!
that’s democracy.
…that you chose to post such nonsense, Mr. Springfield. In this medium it’s very hard to tell irony from naГЇvetГ© when reading such a sentiment.
In the USA circa 2010, people get oligarchy, government that protects wealth, bought and paid for with secret contributions and cheap at twice the cost. Full stop.
Perhaps you know this and were just having us on, but how could newcomers know that?
You can do that if you like. I have nothing against you. Believe what you want.
As far as oligarchy, it has been with the union from the industrial revolution, perhaps truly since Pres. Teddy Roosevelt and the first anti-trust laws.
It isn’t going away. If anything, it will get worse as the corporate percentage of donations will likely rise and continue to give Republicans an edge. The court isn’t likely to change the opinion any decade soon.
Are most voters informed? Of course not.
Does democracy work? Id say that it still does a better job than any form of left or right extremism.
It’s seldom the government they want.
Offhand, I can’t think of a government that doesn’t reflect/echo the economy of its society. And vice versa.
Government:Economy–two aspects of the same thing. Winners/losers come from the same pools of people (sometimes bought and paid for, like John Boehner), etc. Exception: the ignorant and misled, e.g. “Tea Partiers,” aided by a strong dose of racism.
How about Zimbabwe?
In R years.
