Hancock's "We are Denver" catching fire

  • by: TheAngryHippie

Michael Hancock’s “We are Denver” campaign is gaining a lot of momentum.  While some candidates are focusing on small groups or blocks of supporters, Hancock is reaching out to all groups and his “We are Denver” effort is bringing diverse people together. Hancock has a lot of support among parents, young professionals, education leaders and business owners. He has strong support in the African American, Asian and Hispanic community. Most of the school board are all with him so are community leaders like Speaker Terrance Carrol, Wendy Aiello, Mike Driver, Josh Hanfling, Michael Johnston, Happy Haynes, Tyler Mousey and Anthony Aragon. Just this week, Joshua Scharf wrote in his newsletter that with Isenberg out, “Michael Hancock will likely pick up a fair amount of Republican support.”

With a lot of other boring candidates and some who just pander to either the extremes in a party and the groups that Soros backs or the big money or who try to play to certain groups I’m excited to see a candidate who is reaching out to all people and getting Republicans and Democrats to come together to fix our schools and grow the economy.

Next week the campaign is hosting a concert as a fundraiser with an impressive list of hosts including Wendy Aiello, Laurie Hirschfeld, Mary Seawell, LeeAnn Fowler and a dozen more. The event is January 25 at 5:30 at Jazz at Jacks and includes a show by the Mary Louise Lee Band

  1. To TheAngryHippie:  As a person who is sympathetic to you candidate, you are doing far more harm than good with these ridiculous posts.  I actually don’t mind when people write in support of their candidate, but you have the depth of subtlety of the China Daily.

    1. You post cliches and don’t engage in any of the follow-up discussion as to what you were saying. Not helpful to your candidate, and I say this as someone who’s tentatively leaning toward Hancock or Linkhart.

  2. Hippie,

I’m opposed to Michael Hancock because of what he did to my client, Mile High Cab.

For details, check out this little cartoon.  The script is taken from the transcript of the cross examination of Mr. Hancock before the PUC.

    1. Boring Boring Boring.  I went to watch a classmate of mine do a murder trial once, and even that was boring.  This video was, like, hyper-boring.

    2. Are you the older guy in this video? The cross-examination is impressive. I never heard this story before.

Did Metro taxi give to other candidates, as well? Many corporations give to everyone, hoping someone will be foolish enough to be bought.

      1. My favorite part was asking him if he had taken money from Metro and he denied having done so multiple times.

But, others in this treehouse club are hoping for something more like Law and Order.

Metro Taxi has not spread its money around.  They are banking on Hancock.

  3. Just so Pols could finally get a break from the sockpuppets and shills before the 2012 cycle starts up. But God hates gays, so nothing ever fucking works out for me.

  4. Rule 1 – know your audience. ColoPols is no place to post tripe like

With a lot of other boring candidates and some who just pander to either the extremes in a party and the groups that Soros backs or the big money or

Hey, could you run that sentence on for another five conjunctive phrases? Seriously, I like Michael Hancock the person and the public figure, but you are making me dislike his campaign.

“We are Denver”  After “imagine a great city,” a pair of tennis shoes and a parking meter, it’s kinda flat. Cool to let people know about the party tho.

    1. Why would the campaign want to demonize the Soros groups?  This is a talking point taken out of Glenn Beck’s mouth.  I seriously just don’t understand why this person thinks that it is important to mention Soros.  puzzled.

      1. hasn’t yet defended himself/herself against any of the attacks that Polsters have made.  In fact, he/she hasn’t posted any response comments whatsoever.

Methinks that TheAngryHippie is likely in the business of generating discontent, and not interested at all in generating support for Mr. Hancock.

  5. First this drivel is getting posted here on pols then 15 minutes  later Hancock’s campaign staff is posting the same thing almost word for word on Facebook: “Michael Hancock is picking up new supporters and prominent endorsers every single day. Today, we welcome community leaders Josh Hanfling, Janice Sinden, Steve Gottesfeld and Buffy Naake to Team Hancock. Welcome aboard.”

If you’re going to try to post stuff on the blogs under a screenname you might want to make sure you post it on facebook FIRST then post it on pols so you can at least act like the post on pols is from somebody who saw the official post first.

And really you are going to point to people like Janice Sinden? Denver’s resident big business repubs.  Guess Hancock is building the big tent. Too bad for you Denver is 60%+ Democrats who like to support actual Democrats who have actually supported Democratic goals and legislation. Why do you think Romer has the most elected officials endorsing him? Even Boigon has more actual Dems supporting her than Handcock. But maybe it makes sense then having Bill “screw the unions and working families” Ritter’s people running the show if you’re going to go boast about the Republicans who are supporting you.

  6. Actually it’s not and of all the stupid drivel you put in this diary, I’m most offended by the revelation that you think that list of hosts deserves to be qualified with an “impressive”.

You know you’re working against Hancock with this shit, right? You’re a Linkhart supporter and you’re doing a fine job.
