Going the way of Air America type talent, Keith announced his termination today. His few remaining viewers were left to question where his tattered reputation might take him next.
You’ll recall his latest faux pas in defending failed policies resulted in a suspension (without pay) for donating to political candidates without disclosure to his viewing audience … a violation of his multi million dollar employment contract.
Keith had complained that he was being punished for mistakenly violating an inconsistently applied rule that he had known nothing about. Yet his ignorance defense was seen only as further evidence that he’d followed a failed path.

No video? Surprising. Your lack of links, not so much.
I should ask for a source of that, but maybe it simply takes one to know one. I defer to you on all matters shit reputation.
and trained with the blog troll master. He is now truly the greatest non-linking warrior blog troll of all time.
When all those bats swarmed him. He is one of the coolest ucumbers around.
would use the term “tattered reputation” like it was some kind of bad thing…??
he would know.
Can you pick a word other than “terminated” for the title?
As to his audience numbers, Olbermann generally has the best audience share outside of Fox.
Oh my! We’re such shrinking violets we can’t stand to hear a commonplace HR word used in its usual context! Save us from bad language!
It’s always fired or “let go.”
But I never much liked the term.
I worked payroll for a large corporation, and every employee who left was considered “terminated,” whether by their own action or the company’s. I don’t know if it was that movie that caused this, but it really shouldn’t carry a connotation of violent death.
calling a train station or a bus station a “terminal” is really such a downer, and kind of scary. We’re going to have to police our everyday phrases carefully after what happened in Arizona.
Hey everyone, can we please not create some new PC rules? It’s one of the left’s silliest characteristics.
when the context requires a calling out, call it out. When it’s a stretch, maybe just wait until the next time. Otherwise, the calling out becomes meaningless.
“Termination of Service”
This was (is?) from the Peace Corps. The last day of service was your TOS.
Thus, the term “termination” is from the era of Camelot and should be used with the full backing and celebration that the Kennedy/Shriver myth carries yet today.
Read the open thread first, jackass.
can be ruined by stupidity.
Anyway, since we weren’t given a video, I’d like to officially post Olberman’s sign off. Classy and a story done with voices. It has everything!
For the record, I think this is sad and that the media in general will be worse off without him. Hopefully someone (CNN?) will pick him up.
I tried to post it but my code-fu wasn’t up to changing things to what Pols likes.

Absolute number of viewers is no measure of a host’s veracity.
The reason why hard right talking heads get more viewers is because the angry and confrontational approach appeals to conservatives, and not liberals. We prefer reason and logic; they prefer hot emotion and pep rallies.
Then I realized I don’t watch Keith much anymore anyway. Then I turned on MSNBC for Rachel, but all I got was a John Hodgman impersonator reading the news.
Twas a sad day indeed…
