We’re redoubling our efforts (to use one of our favorite silly cliches) to bring regularly-updated information on the Denver City races, from Denver Mayor to Denver City Council, and even Clerk and Recorder.
So if you’ve got a keen interest in Denver Politics, make sure to bookmark our younger brother, Denver Pols, for the latest and greatest news and discussion on the Denver races this spring. We’ll cross-post some items here from time-to-time, but generally we’re going to leave the Denver political news to Denver Pols.
And yes, we’ll be updating and expanding The Denver Line very soon.

The most interesting thing about the Denver races, currently, is to see who has not pulled petitions for their respective races.
Doug Linkhart, currently running for Mayor, has not pulled petitions for that race. Also, Debbie Ortega, currently running for City Council at Large has also not pulled petitions for that race.
This leads to speculation that they each are not planning to run for their announced races but will switch.
I actually thought Ortega would have already made the switch to Clerk and Recorder and expect her to do so.
I am beginning to believe that the reason Linkhart has not pulled Mayoral petitions is that he is contemplating the switch to Clerk. There had been scuttlebutt in late December and early January that he would switch from Mayor to City Council, then when O’Malley announced that she would not seek reelection…..
There are a few incumbent city council members who have not pulled their petitions yet either. Charlie Brown hasn’t even filed his intention to run (neither has anyone else in that district).
The number of signatures needed is very low. (300 for the at-large offices and 100 for the district offices) So There is no real hurry. Many of the candidates will get the bulk of their signatures at the Denver Dems re-org on Feb. 12th. It will be petition central there!
If Linkhart changes races, I’ll have a harder time deciding who to support in two races then!
ABC.
I could see a number of people interested in that spot?
for reelection, probably won’t have too hard a time of it.
He’s so laaaaaaaaaaaame.
I think I might not have been clear.
Plus, it was always hard to sign on. I don’t know why a separate website is necessary. Doesn’t the whole world care about what happens in Denver?
but many of the diaries get little if any response.
But at least the spammer problem has been dealt with.
However, I have never been successful in registering an account on the Denver Pols website, so I can never comment. As far as I know, I am not a “spammer.”….but perhaps I would be the last to know.
I used the same username here, they will assign you an initial password. I went to my profile page and changed the password to something I’ll remember right away.
maybe you are!
I was able to register on both Denver and Jeffco Pols, but every time I click over to one of them, I have to log in again. That’s a major disincentive to regular visits …
that doesn’t happen to me. Both those sites remember my cookies.
Except when I go there via a link from another Pols site, which is most of the time.
It forgets me if I go directly to DenverPols but remembers me if I use the link from ColoradoPols.
Maybe I can help.
Effectively ending the speculation that she may switch to running for Clerk instead.
Linkhart has yet to take out petitions according to the Clerk’s website
I have written a summary there of how I am seeing the city elections play out so far. Would love to have some conversation over there. It is in the thread about updating the DenverLine.
