"Tea Party" GOP Leadership Slate--Hurts Harvey?

We’re reprinted a press release below from a newly-announced campaign by three Republicans, now running as a slate of candidates to replace outgoing Colorado GOP chairman Dick Wadhams. Previously-announced candidate Bart Baron has teamed up with John Wagner, former manager for running joke Senate candidate Cleve Tidwell, and some guy we’ve never heard of named Jeremy Goodall to run jointly for the positions of chair, vice-chair, and secretary.

Are these serious contenders for the posts they’re running for? Barring something really incredible that we don’t know about, pretty darn unlikely. But given that Sen. Ted Harvey’s bid for the chairmanship is based on conservative and “Tea Party” support, he’s the one that Baron and friends would pull support from. Where this slate of otherwise minor contenders could become notable is a close race between Harvey and GOP attorney Ryan Call, in which they could conceivably act as spoilers–assuming anyone voting for the position takes them seriously.

NEW TEAM RUNS TO REPLACE LEADERSHIP OF COLORADO GOP

Denver, CO:  A new team has announced that they will be running for the seats of Chair, Vice-chair, and Secretary of the COLORADO GOP this year.

Bart Baron, who had announced in December to run for the Chair of the Colorado GOP, has joined with John Wagner, former Campaign Director for Cleve Tidwell, and Jeremy Goodall, a political operative based in Colorado Springs, in announcing that they are jointly running as a slate, seeking to lead the team at the top of the Colorado GOP administration.

”We are running on a joint platform, using the strengths of each of us, to return the respect of candidates on the GOP ticket” says Bart Baron, who is running for Chair.  ”We wish to join all of those that wish to bring the respect, and the abilities of all the groups within the GOP and bring it up to date.  Previously, it was run in a pragmatic way with conservative values.  .”

Mr Baron, who has run successful campaigns and has been an elected Representative in Michigan, feels that instead of competing, they would better serve working together as they have many of the same plans, ideals, and ideas on how to re-invigorate the GOP in Colorado, and bring the grass roots groups together with it.

Mr. Wagner, a decorated Iraq veteran and entrepreneur, along with Mr. Goodall, feel joining with Mr. Baron will show that they are willing to team together with many others for what is best for the GOP.

”We are an inclusive party- we are an American party.  We want to uphold and enhance the capability of all candidates that run for office under the GOP ticket in Colorado.  We want to advance and help find more and better candidates, and help them starting at the local, county level.  We need to grow this capability better.  We feel the current leadership has not understood how politics has changed since 2008.” says Mr Goodall.
