Now folks, who do you suppose those “Capital [sic] insiders” are who told the Colorado Tea Party Alliance that good Speaker McNulty, their comrade in arms who helped, among others, freshman Reps. Szabo and Holbert win their seats last fall, “will kill any attempts to repeal to the Car Tax?” Was it Kevin Lundberg (speaking, right)? Perhaps it was Ted Harvey, himself hoping to ride a “Tea Party” wave
It’s working. I may not agree oftentimes with McNulty, Brophy, or others from the right. But they do by and large try to do what they think is best for Colorado and understand that government has a key role in society.
These anarchists who want to eliminate government, except for their individual jobs running it, I have no respect for.

McNulty told the Arapahoe County Republican Men’s Club that repealing faster is not a top priority. He’s protecting the government contractors who profit from the tax hike.
Have a selective memory and tap dance it through the House where it will lose in the Senate and he can two-step it through the rest of his term.
not to stick a Tea Party shiv in McNulty’s back. Lundberg is blessed with a thriving TPGOP group in Larimer county.
Doesn’t surprise me at all.
I’d like to see FASTER repealed also, and replaced with an appropriate increase in the gas tax. My rough calculations are a 7 or 8 cents a gal. increase, which hasn’t been increased in 30 frigging years, would replace the lost revenue of FASTER.
Should have been done in the first place, but with a dysfunctional government and political grandstanding, don’t hold your breath.
is that the old social wedge issues that used to hold it all together while the left formed circular firing squads don’t guarantee togetherness anymore. They used to be able to keep the establishment types and the radical righties cooperating by emphasizing flag burning, abortion, the gays, etc. The most libertarian wing of the Tea Party especially isn’t willing to just shut up and let their radical tax and spending agenda take a back seat for the sake of presenting a united front on those social conservative wedge issues.
They also don’t seem inclined to be so easily distracted and managed by the GOP establishment as the Christian right was for decades, either. Could the Borg be reaching an implosion point? On the federal level we just saw something pretty stunning: Enough Republican Reps voting against the extension of the Patriot Act to cause an embarrassing defeat because they actually do value our constitutionally guaranteed personal liberties.
I know it was defeated only because they went with the special procedure where they needed the super majority and they’ll know better the next time, but still. Bet the old guard never saw that coming. Can our state GOP leaders or folks like Boehner and McConnell master the art of herding cats?

Problem for Boehner is…all he has is the same old dry cat food. The tea partiers are tired of having their pockets picked and the Repub leadership doesn’t manage mutiny very well.

Rs are much more used to hierarchy, group think and stick wielding than they are to tuna can opening.

Whose planet do these people live on? Our general fund is $7 billion. All tax raises are subject to a vote. I almost feel sorry for McNulty!
This is a case of the ol’, “you made your bed” axiom. Frank deserves a lot of things, but pity ain’t one of ’em.
