Congresswoman Lauren “Q*Bert” Boebert (R-Rifle) delivered her first speech on the House floor a week ago today, just minutes before Trump-inspired terrorists stormed the U.S. Capitol. That speech was filled with ominous and threatening language, including her statement that, “I have constituents outside this building right now,” and another quote that should be repeated back at Boebert every time she speaks: “Either we have laws, or we do not.”
Today, Q*Bert took to the House floor again for a short, rambling diatribe about her opposition to impeachment (she’d say more on Twitter, but she can’t). You can watch the full clip below, or read the transcription that follows:
REP. LAUREN BOEBERT: Glory to God. Madam Speaker, I rise today to oppose this impeachment and denounce the recent violence at the Capitol, just as I opposed the previous impeachment and the violence that we’ve all witnessed, all summer long across our great country.
Make no mistake here [wagging her right finger]. The hypocrisy of the left is on full display.
Quote: ‘Go to the Hill. Get in the face of some congresspeople. We’ve got to fight in Congress. Fight in the courts. Fight in the streets. Take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him. Take him…go and take Trump out tonight.’ Sound familiar?
What about the gentlewoman from New York, who defended the looting by saying looters just wanted loaves of bread? Well, the last I checked Best Buy and Teslas and stores of the like do not produce baked goods. Where is the accountability for the left, after encouraging and normalizing violence? Rather than actually helping American people in this time, we start impeachments that further divide our country.
I call, ‘bullcrap’ when I hear the Democrats demanding unity. Sadly, they are only unified in hate. This… [UNIDENTIFIED VOICE: Your time has expired]
What is Boebert “quoting” above? She never says. “Take him behind the gym and beat the hell out of him” is something Boebert saw somewhere at some point and she is pretty sure it is relevant to today’s debate.
We should also note the absurdity of Boebert claiming that impeachment discussions are a waste of time when she was delivering a speech last week about overturning the results of the electoral college.
“Glory to God,” indeed.

Whose God??? The one of whom Buck speaks?
Precisely. I was talking to Odin the other day, and he was pretty sure he was going to give Boebert a nasty hangnail. He's pissed.
I thought we had separation of church and state.
Why is any elected official allowed to mention their fucking imaginary friend?
Listened to a great interview this morning with the president of Wheaton Bible College chastising evangelicals for trading their moral compass for a cult personality.
Because we also have freedom of speech, Dave, praise the Lord!
Context – the line about the gym is from Biden in 2018, explaining what he would have done, in high school, if Trump had bragged about assaulting women in front of him.
Qbert logic: It is unacceptable to hold a president accountable for inciting an attack on the Capitol because the president-elect denounced the president’s boasts about sexual assault with reference to hypothetical high school fisticuffs. Clearly, everyone is horrible, no one is accountable, and, “glory to God.”
Her relativism between a punch in the nose and sexual assault is no surprise given what she's married to.
This is the same four years of shit we just went through. " They're so bad, they're awful, they're a disaster…"
No legislating, no policies, no ideas, no compromises, no negotiating, no responsibility for anything, just throw stones and call names. " Look, over there ! " is not a governing philosophy, and this gets us nowhere as a country with imbeciles like Boebert. Please let the adults take over now…
What I wanted Dem leadership to do was bring up the differences between BLM demostrations and the assault on the Capital. Bring up the fact that peaceful protesters were gassed by Trump in a park for a photo op. Discuss the difference between the purpose of the BLM protests which was the unlawful murder of men of color by racist police and traitors who believed in the lie that Trump won the election. The sources of grievance are diametrically different. Call the Repubs on it. Dems aren’t hypocrites. The Repubs are. They were screaming ten years in prison minimum for destruction of federal property in Portland. Don’t let Qbert get away with pretending there is an equivalency here. Protesting George Floyd being suffocated in a public ritual strangulation by a racist cop is not the same as protesting the lie that Donald Trump won the election. Call Repubs like Qbert on this BS. Talk about “Bull-crap”.
Politicians will rarely expose themselves to cross examination or actually answer the question they're asked.
When I was in politics I asked a journalist once how the could have written the account of a hearing that I was present for when the true experience was so different.
The response: "What they say doesn't have to be true. It just has to be true that they said what I quoted."
Dump impeached again.
Votes to impeach: 232
Electoral votes: 232
He should go buy a stack of Play Threes.
The Boebert reference is probably to the 2018 quote from Joe Biden:
