UPDATE: Neguse is rolling:
Joe Neguse smartly highlighted Trump’s *pattern of conduct* going back to BEFORE the election to make the case that he incited the riot. He says: “It’s not just one speech. It didn’t just happen. It was part of a months-long effort with a specific instruction: Show up on Jan. 6.”

The evidence is clear, and it is overwhelming.
He assembled the mob, summoned the mob, and incited the mob.
He must be held accountable. pic.twitter.com/v1kMLPw4b1

I am even more pleased than usual to have Joe Neguse as my representative these days.
It’s hard to pick a favorite among the defenses proffered by Trump’s lawyers. There’s:
– This trial is actual, literal disenfranchisement of 74 million voters!
– Something something “bill of attainder”!
– Why not just shut this shit down and start a criminal prosecution instead?
I guess there’s no point in trying to pick a favorite when there’s truly important work to do, like getting preemptively honked off at all the GOPers who’ll vote to acquit because, “Hey, we have no choice; removing a president who’s left office is unconstitutional.”
He's my rep too, and I am damn proud of him. His presentation was logical, meticulous and well argued, and he hit home a lot of great points with a calm cool demeanor. Nothing in your face, nothing over the line, and that is in short supply these days.
We have our nuts like Boebert, but we have our superstars too…
It was an amazing command of the facts and the narrative. Joe delivered what was in affect the keynote speech of the trial and he couldn't have been more prepared and delivered with such elegance. I bet that speech fired up DeGettis. Highly prepared and high powered. It was exactly the right way to start. Bring on the witnesses.
“Pattern of conduct”? . . .
. . . the same as it ever was.
