The largest school in her district, Colorado Mesa University, is led by a prominent Republican.
In a column published yesterday, Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-CO) called all colleges and universities “leftist training camps.”
Writing for Glenn Beck’s far-right website The Blaze, Boebert attacked Congressional Democrats’ proposed update to federal voting laws, called the For The People Act (H.R. 1), which among other reforms would implement many of Colorado’s “gold standard” election laws across the country.
Despite having handily won an election conducted under these laws, Boebert accuses Democrats of trying to rig the system, including attempting “to use taxpayer dollars to establish aggressive voter recruitment programs at leftist training camps — otherwise known as colleges and universities.” Boebert’s office did not respond to a request for additional comment.
Colorado’s Third Congressional District contains five schools offering four-year degrees: Colorado Mesa University, Western Colorado University, Colorado State University Pueblo, Fort Lewis College and Adams State University. The district is also home to numerous regional campuses for junior and community colleges.
Grand Junction’s Colorado Mesa University is by far the largest of CD3’s institutes of higher education. CMU President Tim Foster is a prominent Republican, having served in the state legislature as House Majority Leader in the 90s before joining former Governor Bill Owens’ cabinet as the head of the Department of Higher Education. The school serves nearly 11,000 students and, according to its 2021 regional impact study, contributes over half a billion dollars to Western Colorado’s economy.
The Colorado Times Recorder reached out to CMU, WCU and CSU-Pueblo for comment, but has yet to receive a response from any of them. This article will be updated with any response received.

So many of the B-school, Aggies and pilots emerge from school as dedicated leftists … obvious outputs of the "leftist training" at University or College.
or maybe, just maybe, those who get that higher education snatch a bit of critical thinking, and thus reject pure fantasy and inconsistent policy positions.
At this point, all I hold is pity for this ignoramus. With the rise of the new-age 'Know Nothings' in Congress post-Trump, we're going to be stuck with a handful of these morons in the lower and upper chambers for the foreseeable future. The important thing at this point is what party is in power – and that we use that power to advance democracy in every way possible.
Let's make John Lewis smile from the heavens on this one.
