Initial eyewitness reports we’ve received suggest that today’s “Tax Day Tea Party” at the Colorado state capitol had a disappointing turnout–the photo we received a little while ago above suggests as much. One source tells us that the crowd was no more than 500 people based on estimates of prior events on the West Steps. If that estimate is right, it’s a significant decline from previous Tax Day protests. If you were there, or taking photos out the capitol window, please email webmaster@coloradopols.com and we’ll get them posted.
Wait, maybe it’s because Tax Day falls on Monday April 18th, not April 15th this year due to Washington, DC’s observance of Emancipation Day? You’re right, too damn much to explain.
UPDATE: It may have been sparsely attended, but Secretary of State Scott Gessler was at the Tax Day Tea Party, furthering that “conservative viewpoint.” Nice day to be out, anyway:

Keyboard Cat? Anyone?
with the Tea Party. Too bad Republican politicians havn’t gotten the message yet.
Anyone think to ask him for his long form birth certificate?
Its odd, at any anti-Bush rally you’d see someone holding a sign with the same idea, but with Kenya and Obama replaced with Texas and Bush, respectively.
With President Bush, the criticism made sense because of the perceived anti-intellectualism of the administration.
But with the Tea party, the party who are opposed to ivory tower intellectuals, the party of average joes with no college degree the sign makes no sense. Either hes not serious, or he really has no idea what hes protesting about.
But with the Kenya substitution and given the history of Birtherism, its probably just some subconscious or low level racism. IMHO, that is.
he was greased with a $ 20 to stand around with that idiotic sign, and Argonaut now has $ 20 less of ripple in stock.
but missed some terminal punctuation.
I’ll bet he wanted to express his geography concerns and wanted it read as:
Either that or some very conscious, low level racism . . .
Explain that George Bush is from Texas, not Kenya.
That sign is an attack on Obama’s birth certificate, attacks which W Bush never had to face
End of discussion.
Canadians are often white. I’d like my eight years back, please.
Kinda like hanging around a campfire in the backwoods of Idaho.
Rep. Kerr caught a great shot of a Tea Party protester. Or UN Conspirator?!?
