Four Dead in Ohio -- new evidence, new investigation?

  •
  • by: richardmyers

“Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,

We’re finally on our own.

This summer I hear the drumming

Four dead in Ohio.”

The song by Neil Young challenged a generation. The Ohio National Guard

fired 67 rounds of live ammunition into a crowd of students protesting the

Vietnam War. Four students killed, nine others maimed, one paralized for life.

What if you knew her

And found her dead on the ground

How can you run when you know?

What seemed like senseless violence, now has an explanation. Recent

expert analysis of an audio tape reveals a previously unknown fact : an

incident alleged to have occurred after the National Guard shooting did

in fact occur BEFORE the Guard fired their weapons. A paid FBI informant,

a gung-ho law and order student by the name of Terry Brooks Norman,

fired a .38 caliber pistol seventy seconds before the Ohio National Guard

discharged their weapons. Some have testified that the National Guard,

hearing the pistol shots, believed they were under attack by sniper fire.

There is a long, sordid history of coverup and incompetence related to

the investigation of Terry Norman’s role in the Kent State shootings.

Ohio Representative Dennis Kucinich has sought to hold hearings on the

new evidence, but with the change of leadership in the House, Kucinich

lost his chairmanship of the committee in which hearings were planned.

The state of Ohio and the U.S. Justice Department refused to review the

new evidence, leaving the story of the Kent State shootings unfinished.

The case remains in limbo.

Numerous conflicts in testimony related to the Kent State shootings remain.

An investigation is vital to understanding what happened, and how a similar

incident might be prevented in the future.
