Danny Moore, Still Lying About "The Big Lie"

Danny Moore cannot not tell a lie.

The first step to recovery in a typical 12-step program is to admit that you have a problem. In that case, Republican Danny Moore only has 12 more steps to go!

As you may recall, Moore spent one week as the Chair of Colorado’s Independent Congressional Redistricting Committee before his fellow members voted unanimously to oust him from the position because he didn’t bother to disclose the fact that he is a full-on election fraud truther. For a commission with a goal of redrawing Congressional district maps in a transparent manner, it didn’t make a lot of sense to be led by someone who believes that the 2020 Presidential election was fraudulent.

Moore has been unrepentant about the impact of his his election conspiracy theories. He has offered the lame defense that he was just trying to “start a conversation” and even suggested that the real reason he was being ousted as Chair of the Commission was because he is a “black conservative” (an accusation that did not go over well with his fellow Commissioners).

On Sunday, Moore spoke again about his removal as Chair in an interview on something called The Deborah Flora Show on KNUS radio. He didn’t exactly own up to his past comments:

“When things happen to you, you have two choices: You can lay down and take it or you can stand up and and learn from it.”

Moore must have read this off of an inspirational calendar or something, because he didn’t internalize the message. Instead, he decided to go a third route: Lie and pretend that you said something different than what you actually said…

“I never questioned the election. What I did was I had a conversation with a group of friends surrounding the election itself, no different than Bush v. Gore, no different than the Clinton vote, no different than any election that we’ve had in my lifetime. So I…for that…the commissioners voted overwhelmingly to remove me as chair, but I’m still on the commission and serving.

There is absolutely no ambiguity about what Moore said — repeatedly — concerning the 2020 Presidential election. 9News reported on Moore’s own social media posts, as did The Colorado Springs Gazette. Here is but one example:

Facebook post by Danny Moore on January 7, 2021.

It’s almost comical that Moore would say, as he repeated on KNUS radio, that “I never questioned the election.” The VERY FIRST SENTENCE of the Facebook post above, which was posted the day after the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, reads: “By any account, the election of 2020 will go down as the most questioned election in our country’s history.”

Danny Moore doesn’t even believe the words that come out of the mouth of Danny Moore. On that, at least, he has finally found common ground with the other members of the Redistricting Commission.

  1. The mind's ability (need?) for self-deception is astonishingly common.

    Trivers' theory[edit]

It has been theorized that humans are susceptible to self-deception because most people have emotional attachments to beliefs, which in some cases may be irrational. Some evolutionary biologists, such as Robert Trivers, have suggested[8][page needed] that deception plays a significant role in human behavior, and more generally speaking in animal behavior. One deceives oneself to trust something that is not true as to better convince others of that truth. When a person convinces himself of this untrue thing, they better mask the signs of deception.[9] Trivers, along with two colleagues (Daniel Kriegman and Malcolm Slavin), applied his theory of "self-deception in the service of deception" in order to explain how Donald Trump was able to employ the "big lie" with such great success.[10]

  2. 2000 election/Bush v. Gore–a very close election, razor-thin in Florida, and the election outcome was determined based on who won Florida.

2020–Trump was routed soundly.  Not close.  Not at all.  So when lil Danny starts by implicitly comparing this to Bush v. Gore/2000, he amply illustrates that he is a clown rightfully removed as chair.

  3. What I noticed about his Twittering, is how fully tea-billy Trumpublican buzz-word compliant it is: Mail-ballots, blue-state, social media, and the global elite. I hope he didn't strain his thinker-thingy remembering them all

  4. Danny Moore Facebook post (above): "by any account, the election of 2020 will go down as the most questioned election in our country's history……."

Obviously he never read up on the election of 1876 where President Hayes won by 1 electoral vote over Samuel Tilden. Tilden won the popular vote by 3%.

  5. Ok then…they passed over me, for this guy? Yes, I applied for this position…the Big Lie is seditious in nature, and spreading the big lie is actively spreading sedition…anyone who thinks the Big Lie is not a lie, they do not belong anywhere near voting regulations, and especially now, when Colorado gets a new seat…republicans are the enemy of democracy…they prove it on a daily basis…

    1. The consolation prize is that the press played its  role in exposing this guy, and he didn’t get to influence Colorado’s redistricting process, as was planned. He was a graduate from Independence Institute’s leadership program, and undoubtedly had been slated for great things down the road.

Also, military ex-intelligence agents like Moore and Loren/Ron Hanks probably  know that the Big Lie is a lie. They built their careers on objective facts. But now, in post Trump world, they  find it convenient to raise funds and accumulate personal and partisan power. Because they are essentially corrupt, they can be bought off. Therefore, they aren’t as dangerous as fanatics like Boebert.

      1. Yup…

They are certainly not committed to the level of the zealous idiot. Republican operatives who make their career patronizing and exploiting the Boeberts, Bachmanns, and Beauprezs of the world are pretty pragmatic. They want to be where they can get it done.

When profits fade or the risk portfolio grows too heavy, these types will change horses without delay. Pew-Pew is fighting for godliness and government cheese! Railing against the evil Demoncrats. She will fight to the death!!!…or at least until she can wrangle a villa in Aruba and nice pension out of it…or whatever gets her gun undone.
