Colorado Delegation Splits Debt-Ceiling Compromise Vote

  • by: Colorado Pols

And not squarely down party lines, either–on the key vote, debated as an amendment to a 2002 education reform bill so as not to (technically, anyway) violate Speaker John Boehner’s pledge to allow 72 hours of public viewing of bills before a vote, here is how your Colorado House delegation voted on the final debt-ceiling compromise this evening.

Rep. Mike Coffman – Aye

Rep. Diana DeGette – Nay

Rep. Cory Gardner – Aye

Rep. Doug Lamborn – Nay

Rep. Ed Perlmutter – Aye

Rep. Jared Polis – Aye

Rep. Scott Tipton – Nay

The bill proceeds to the Senate tomorrow, where it’s expected to pass in time for President Barack Obama to sign it just ahead of the Doomsday Default Deadline™ set by the Treasury.

Right after that, you may exhale.

  1. What galls me is that Perlmutter voted for this turkey and he didn’t need to.  Can we then assume that his vote was principled vote and that he really does like it.  For all her faults, DeGette voted against the bill.

  2. What say you, liberals? It appears that Tipton and Lamborn have voted their conscience. DeGette is evidently sick of trying for a leadership position. Gardner stood by Boehner and the NRCC will stand by him (sorry Brandon).

We’re going to cut almost 2 and a half trillion dollars from the debt. Americans want more. We know we won’t get it with this president. But for today, good work, Washington.

    1. He is a politician.  He voted YES to the plan on Friday and NO on Monday.  Who needs help figuring out what happened over the weekend?  Two Way Tipton.  Flippin’ Tipton… the Tea Party folks tore him up over the weekend.  There’s your “conscience.”

      1. That’s why there are two options.

“Oh no it was heads and then tails, that’s so much worse than tails twice!” Tipton voted both ways so that if anyone ever runs an ad complaining about one of his votes, Politifact can call it a lie.

    2. You really don’t grasp much, do you? DeGette already has a leadership position, and her vote can be ascribed to conscience as easily as Lamborn and Tipton’s — other Dems in leadership positions also voted against the deal.

    3. and I am looking forward to hearing her rationale. I am very confident it was a vote of principle — I can’t think of any she had voted on that were not.

ArapaGOP — I’m all for cutting the debt. I think we could reduce the military by at least half.

    4. I liberally drink fine wines, and liberally apply lotions in dry climates. Policywise, I progressively search for solutions that serve “the commons”.

The party bosses, including Boehner and Ryan, are trumpeting the fact they achieved “66& of what we wanted”. Are you saying that Tipton and Lamborn are voting against their leadership?

Obama wanted $4M cut. Riddle me this….How many more million did Obama ask for in cuts, versus what passed today? So, your point?

It’s apparent that you want what Americans want. Please respond then, to this:

      http://www.politicususa.com/en

I could come up with many more examples of what American’s want.

Your whole post, is as always, completely unintelligible.

    5. So what’s his story? Did he vote his conscience? Or did he sell out like Gardner and stand by Boehner? I can’t quite keep up with your spin so any assistance you could provide by way of explanation would be super.

    6. When R votes no = “voted their conscience”

When D votes no = just “sick of trying for a leadership position”

If you ever wonder why we treat you like a stupid hack rather than like a worthy sparring partner, just look back to crap like your post here.

      1. she’d be a Republican.

There, that was easy. The best part is, these posts basically write themselves. I’m going to qualify for a free golf bag soon.

    7. loophole closures and tax increases for the richest 2%.

Your Republican Corporate Overlords have seen to it that the will of the people is once more ignored.

  3. We Republicans are looking forward to running ads in Fall 2012 lambasting idiot Democrats for voting for a plan which could potentially cut Medicare.

God this is so easy, I’m amazed I didn’t switch sides earlier.
