The much-ballyhooed Colorado Freedom of Choice Rally yesterday, a protest against COVID-19 vaccine mandates becoming increasingly prevalent throughout society from employers to entertainment venues, attracted a crowd that–sorry to say–will not be sufficient to launch the glorious anti-vaxxer revolution. But even in a state where a solid majority support vaccine mandates for health care and public-facing government workers, the noisy minority has the opportunity to make their allotment of noise:
“Our DNA is sacred.” What can you say to that except you betcha?

Sign of the times: Anti-vaxxers spread disease.
If these people are serious in their anti-vaxxing jihad, then none will get flu or pneumonia shots; or shots for hepatitis, yellow fever, meningitis, polio boosters, diphtheria, measles; or any other kind of shot.
First time I went seriously out of the country in late 1989, I felt like a pin-cushion. Of course, one would not expect any of these people to do any sort of outside-USA traveling.
Once they learn that Mitch "the Old Crow" McConnell is a big advocate of polio vaccine (because he contracted polio before there was a vaccine), they will need to forego the polio vaccine.
After all, Mitch says bad things about Trump and Trump called Mitch "the Old Crow."
Question: Do iron lungs come with attached UV lighting and a bleach dispenser?
My own kids had a similar experience; When they got to travel abroad, they had to get a lot of "catch-up" vaccinations at once, because their hippie mom (moi) had been reluctant to vaccinate or boost on the recommended schedule.
Some of these kids of anti-vaxxers will be mighty pissed at their parental units when their dreams are blocked because of failure to take their shots.
I understand there are over 120,000 of those kids of anti-vaxxers who are going to be pissed at their parents when the parents are no longer there to care for them. Orphans and adoptees, kids being raised by their grandparents or older siblings — I've met a number who have very complex emotional sets about the parents who abandoned them.
My first trip to Zimbabwe in the late 90’s required 13 shots (some were catch-up) and I had to carry (gasp) my vaccine card with me through two airports of entry.
Do you think the "Love Not Fear" sign is a counter-protester? I mean the whole discussion boils down to someone being afraid to get a vaccine (fear) versus getting the vaccine, and assuming the demonstrably small risk associated with it, in order to protect (love) your neighbors.
It's possible, but not likely. "Love Not Fear" is very much an anti-vaxxer thing, as in, "Don't let the gubmit divide us with vaccine mandates; you have nothing to fear from freedom-loving people."
I hope someone comes out with a big spray can of Lysol after the leave.
lol
They might have drawn in some crunchy leftie trust fund hippie anti-vaxxers had they held this rally closer to Boulder.
They're trying to recall school board members in Boulder, though it's over mask mandates! Absolute zero chance of recalling them, very very slim chance of getting enough signatures, but maybe they'll turn in a few more sigs than the Case of Bud guys a few summers ago.
They’re the equivalent of a dry bearing in a complex machine (something easily fixed with a
grease gunvaccine). Let’s stop giving these clowns any press. Let them air their grievances in Gab or on Facebook. Or wait for Festivus. It always makes me chuckle when I see these idiots waving the American Flag around at their anti-vac shows. In the mid-70’s, I was jabbed too many times to count at Army basic training. I guess they would think I, and countless others, were un-American?? Idiots.
Someone tell these idiots that Washington mandated the first Continental Army to take the jab!
I'm also thinking of the irony of some who are consciously snagging the pro-choice rhetoric of those of us wanting more reproductive autonomy. Seems to me the dissonance of an anti-abortion person arguing in favor of bodily choice on medical care is going to jangle a bit.
I'm impressed by the guy in the back left clarifying that "WE ARE NOT LAB RATS."
What Pman said. Army docs used pneumatic syringes because individual n eedles were too slow for all the stuff they pumped into us.
I believe they are back to needles as the air guns did not work well.
I think they worked O.K. protection wise. However, years ago, I received a notice from the VA letting me know if I was diagnosed with some sort of hepatitis (don’t remember the particulars) to let them know. Those basic training shots were efficient but as it turned out, sort of sloppy and not the most cleanest of things!
