  1. Eight presidential candidates have been invited to speak about abortion at a forum that 2008 Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee will host next month in Iowa, the conservative group Citizens United confirmed to POLITICO. The event will be formally announced later today.

At the gathering, Citizens United, best known for the eponymous Supreme Court decision that last year altered the nation’s campaign finance landscape, will also screen a documentary about abortion that features Huckabee, a former Arkansas governor and current Fox News program host.

“Every conservative candidate for president will be fighting to come to this event,” said David Bossie, Citizens United’s president. “I think the campaigns see the value to be at a forum, in Iowa, three weeks before the caucus, standing next to Mike Huckabee. This is a unique opportunity.”

It will be awesome to see them all double down to out-crazy each other for the far right Republican base vote.

It should be good fodder for quotes for the general.

  2. Here is one David will love (along with all y’all other techies).  Quick Mother Jones article & visual that compares Tweet Forensics: Occupy v. Tea Party

I’m not gonna paste the visuals for the sake of space but they are worth a look.  Notice TeaBagger Tweet traffic very circular and somewhat closed vs. the OWS traffic showing more nodes and a diversity in the traffic.

Caveat that this was a snippet gauging thread traffic from yesterday.  This would be fascinating if they could provide the same comparison between OWS at 2 months and TeaBaggers @ a time of comparable media coverage/presence.

    1. As you said, what would be really interesting would be to compare to the tea party 2 months in. My guess is over time the OWS tweeters will also establish relationships with each other and you will see the same.

What is fascinating about it is the clear picture of the OWS diversity. That shows that a lot more people are involved than you see in the crowds.
