Gingrich Building Big Lead Over Romney in Early States

  • by: Colorado Pols

We talked earlier about how Colorado Republicans appear to favor Newt Gingrich over Mitt Romney by a substantial margin, and apparently they aren’t alone.

According to polling data just released by CNN and Time Magazine, Gingrich is surging well ahead of Romney in Iowa, Florida and South Carolina, and is gaining ground in New Hampshire.

FLORIDA

Gingrich: 48%

Romney: 25%

IOWA

Gingrich: 33%

Romney: 20%

NEW HAMPSHIRE

Romney: 35%

Gingrich: 26%

SOUTH CAROLINA

Gingrich: 43%

Romney: 20%

  1. then what?  If nothing else this is going to be the most entertaining GOP presidential primary …. EVER!

If Romney still turns out to be the last one left standing, will dissatisfaction be such that there could be one or more none of the above, third or even fourth party candidates with enough juice to make real dents?  Just how crazy is that cu-razy GOTP base? Round and round and round she goes.  Where she stops…

    1. Colorado may have already previewed a possible scenario for 2012 — a feeble GOP candidate, a rogue independent 3rd party candidate (Bloomenthal, Trump — basically an egomaniac wealthy enough to self-fund), and the Democrat (luckiest man alive, Obama!)

  2. to be their president.  Romney is in trouble.  The narrative is solidifying around him.  He can’t be trusted and isn’t genuine.

Wait until the Republicans wake up after the RNC convention and realize they have been sleeping with Newt.  That’s going to be a shock to the old Tea Party system.

On the plus side, there should be some fun debates with Newt facing off against Obama on stage.

  3. Realistically, Romney is the ONLY GOP candidate who has a chance against Obama in the general.  Gingrich?  Not.

So let’s all hope the Newt wins the GOP nomination, thus allowing Obama a relatively easy re-election win and, by the way, sweeping out the GOP’s “Christian” Taliban.
