UPDATE: CNN now projecting that Rep. Ron Paul will place second behind expected winner Mitt Romney, with former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman a disappointing third.

Don’t worry, everything is proceeding according to plan.

  1. Who could possibly have predicted this outcome? CNN called it for Romney.

I think I’ll head home and watch Reno 911–Season 5. At least I’ll be unable to predict what happens in each episode.

      1. The real question is will Lieutenant Jim Dangle show me his balls in any of the episodes on Disc 3? Despite those super short shorts, I cannot predict the outcome.

        1. Crazy Paul, 88.9% of what he says is completely whack…but go Ron Paul!  Take the crazy all the way brother!  (And keep telling that 11.1% truth).

        2. the breathlessly reported Santorum surge?  Sure, he was supposed to lose but he was also supposed to do considerably better than pre-Iowa polling showed.  Not so much, I guess.

            1. the Rs who served with Newt had to say.  One amusing aspect, though, is the way a couple of them complained that Santorum clawed his way to the Senate rather than waiting his turn. Like a  good little GOP pol, I guess. That’s the one thing Rs can’t expect anyone else to sympathize with them on.

I’d say Santorum and the PA GOP establishment deserve each other.

          1. The poll boost lasts about a month at most. Although New Hampshire is obviously not Santorum’s ideal audience, and it’s hard to say what will happen after the barrage of ads in South Carolina.

            1. http://boingboing.net/2012/01/

When [Rock] Santorum was in high school, “Everybody called him ‘Rooster’ because of a strand of hair on the back of his head which stood up, and because of his competitive, in-your-face attitude. ‘He would debate anything and everything with you, mostly sports,’ [a friend recalled]. ‘He was like a rooster. He never backed down.'” That profile also contains this description of the young Santorum, before he met his wife, courtesy of a cousin: “Rick was a funny guy. He sported a bushy moustache for a time, wore Hawaiian shirts and smoked cigars. He liked to laugh, drink and call things ‘horsey-assey.’ He was very popular and fun to be around.”

  2. Not for any political reason. I would just like to see Wolf Blitzer standing in front of his toy screen with nothing of significance to report on Super Tuesday.

    1. when did Blitzer have anything of significance to report from Iowa or New Hampshire?

I caught the two minutes of sheer journalistic drama when CNN discovered and reported the important Manchester vote was off — by four fucking votes.  And, then the relief when one of the old gals doing the counting informed the camera that they were now only off by two votes; to which Wolfe then promised to keep the viewers posted.  (Did anyone hear, did Wolfe or any of those old gals ever find those two votes?)

The real news from New Hampshire? — Your odds of running into one of the 1,668 Perry voters (who obviously live completely off the grid without electricity, television, radio, magazines, newspapers, or any other kind of meaningful contact with the outside world) if you ever find yourself somehow exiled to that state.

        1. I think I remember that it was something about his appeal to that vast army of modern-day Republicans who all thought that George W. Bush was too cerebral?
