As you’ve probably heard, many businesses in Colorado are having a hard time finding enough workers.
At the same time, a pool of qualified talent is waiting for their chance to get back in the game.
Did you know that one in three Coloradans have some type of criminal record? Old convictions for minor infractions can create lifelong obstacles to employment, housing, and education. Right now thousands of Coloradans are unemployed and under-employed because of a debt they repaid to society long ago.
That’s why we’re proud to be part of the coalition supporting the Clean Slate legislation just introduced in the Colorado legislature. Clean Slate creates a process for automatically sealing records for those who are already eligible, have completed their sentence, and committed no further infractions.
Sealing old court records for those who have completed their obligations and want to rejoin the economy makes sense for everyone. Lack of economic opportunity lies at the heart of rising crime and recidivism.
Thanks for your help passing this important legislation! Here are a few more ways to fight for progress for the week of February 7, 2022:

Tell as many people as possible about this!
