    1. Given McConnell and the Gang of 50 (± 2), I'm pretty certain nothing can get through the Senate.  Demonstrating impotence isn't a real strong appeal for voting for Democrats.

      I'm also pretty certain nothing passed by Congress is going to have a substantial impact on inflation (nearly entirely an event-based phenomenon, controllable to some extent by the Fed & other national central banks) or crime (mainly a state issue). 

      So, signalling what would be done with a functional Democratic majority can help build enthusiasm among those who are amenable to voting for Democrats.  So, voting for things which will HELP voting and avoid support of insurrection seems worthwhile. Voting for strategies to mitigate climate change or provide relief for its harms  Voting for clear responsibilities for the CDC and FDA so they can deal with the NEXT pandemic better than they have this one.  Voting for impositions of better ethics laws on Executive, Legislative and Judicial branch officials and employees — insisting they are servants of the people, not entitled elites.
