Who Will Be the Republican Nominee in CO-03?

  • by: Colorado Pols
Rep. Lauren Boebert, State Sen. Don Coram.

You know the drill by now: Who do you think will be the Republican nominee for Congress in CO-03?

Will incumbent Rep. Lauren “Q*Bert” Boebert earn a head start on a second term, or can State Sen. Don Coram finally put an end to Q*Bert’s madness?

Click below to cast your vote!

*Remember, as always with our totally non-scientific polls, we want to know what you legitimately THINK will happen — not what you hope will happen or which candidate you support personally. If you had to bet the deed to your house that your prediction would be correct, how would you vote?

  1. Ballotpedia reminded me of the 2020 outcome

    Lauren Boebert……….54.6%……….58,678

    Scott Tipton………….45.4%……….48,805

    ……………………………..Total votes: 107,483

Coram’s campaign hasn’t seemed much more energetic than Tipton’s. I think there will be a lower turnout than the record of 2020, but not skewed enough to eliminate mostly MAGA voters backing “Bim” Boebert. Not enough Republicans are embarrassed by Boebert.   And I have a hard time imagining enough “temporarily Unaffiliated” creating enough of a skew toward Coram.

    1. Sadly, that will not move the needle….

It hasn't stopped this guy from a long, prosperous career as a pro-life Republican House member:

Scott DesJarlais Abortion Scandal: Congressman's Wife Had 2 Abortions, Court Transcripts Say | HuffPost Latest News

As much as it pains me to say it, my prediction is that the Worthless POS wins 60%/40% over Coram, and by a similar-sized margin over Sol Sandoval or one of the other two in the running.

    2. I really can't support outing women who have had abortions. I get the hypocrisy of it compared to her public positions, and it wouldn't surprise me if Boebert had an abortion, (evangelical women have abortions at the same rate as any other women), but still….

That is a juicy bit of gossip linking Boebert and Ted Cruz. It does shed light on her "origin story".

Again, unsurprising if true, and highlights the hypocrisy in these "pro-family values" types….Maybe that one's legit to publicize, if it can be confirmed.

I doubt if there is anything that will move a true MAGA-head away from supporting Lauren Boebert.

      1. First of all, we don’t know for sure that the abortion accusation is true. If firebobert.com source is willing to go on the record, that’s one thing. So far, that hasn’t happened, and it’s irresponsible in my opinion, to spread those rumors without them being confirmed.

Second, as progressives, we believe, and the supreme court says (so far), that abortion is a personal, private healthcare decision. If so, why would we make common cause with the rabid “pro lifers“ who want to criminalize abortion doctors and clients , investigate miscarriages, keep abortion client’s names in a public database, declare the fetus to be a person from conception, etc.?

That’s just not an alliance I’m comfortable with. Perhaps one needs to have had the experience of being screamed at in your face by a crazy right to lifer calling you a baby killer as you exited on abortion clinic to really understand that one.

When we start slut shaming and using the same language and attacks on women as the MAGA crowd, something’s not right.

I get the hypocrisy. I was actually the first one on this blog to publicize Lauren‘s husband Jayson‘s flashing his dick at people.  Anne Landman wrote the story, sourced from police records. But Lauren claims to be all about the family values, so that was fair game, I decided.

Outing LGBTQ folk, as you say Harvey Milk did, is also ethically ambiguous. Not if there are issues of consent, like Kevin Spacey or Denny Hastert, but if consenting adults, ethics of outing should at least be considered.

        1. I actually agree with kwtree ….. on one point.

Bimbobert should not be outed as having had an abortion or two unless it can be established as true.

I'd like to believe the worst about her but even I question the plausibility of a married mother of several children owning and operating a greasy spoon restaurant and moonlighting as an unlicensed escort on the side.

If true, however, out the wretched hypocrite. It's the same approach I have towards closeted gay men. If they are not hurting the LGBT community, leave them alone. But when they are leading or supporting the Christian theocrats and attacking us, then out them.

        2. I see absolutely nothing wrong in holding individuals to the standards the set for others.

If you are an individual who is in a position of authority or who seeks a position of authority who calls abortion murder, which Boebert does, and you've had an abortion….then that issue is fair game.

If you are an individual in a position of authority or who seeks a position of authority who promotes "family values" for others, then your own personal values are fair game.

If you are an individual in a position of authority or who seeks a position of authority who "slut shames" and are in fact, a slut yourself, you should be called on it (case in point: Herschel Walker).

          1. There is no way this will ever be proved one way or another, unless fireboebert’s source has a written doc from Boebert or receipts. Planned Parenthood won’t ever reveal names of patients, even for an existential threat like Boebert.

The “ escort service” allegation is slightly more provable…and certainly within the bounds of hypocritical GOP culture ( see House, Steve, and Julie Naye)  but still probably unproven. She would have had a 4 year old kid and another one on the way in ‘09, plus a business to run, not to mention where Jayson fits into this picture…desperate people do sex work under those conditions, but it seems unlikely.

So whatever you think about the ethics of outing hypocritical abortion obtainers and sex workers, the sheer unprovability of these accusations, and likelihood that they’ll rebound on Democrats, should keep people from spreading the rumors.

I’d much rather see Lauren in deep criminal doo-doo from her treasonous abetting of the insurrection, her shady finances that exploited her adoring fans, or the leaving the scene of the accident deal, which at least has a paper trail and a willing witness.

Maybe that is the entire point of these latest rumors- to get Dems all worked up and distracted from Boebert’s real, provable scandals.

Boebert’s role model, Donald Trump, knows all about that tactic: give them something juicy to chew on, and they’ll forget all about your treason.

    3. This may be a deal breaker ? or do MAGA's / GOP care?

I doubt it'll have any effect at all, but if anything it'll mean a slightly bigger win for Sloebert in her primary. Some wingnuts who might not have voted in the primary at all could be compelled to white-knight Sloebert against these ghastly "fake news" attacks.

And, of course, there's always been a sexual component to Sloebert's public persona. Just guessing here, but I'd wager that district features few to no 50+ wingnuts with MAGA hats, unwashed asses, and "Fuck Your Feelings" t-shirts stretched over gargantuan bellies who fantasize about pushing Don Coram's face into an American flag-themed MyPillow.

      1. The level to which the western Colorado Republican victimhood complex has risen is almost psychotic at this point. It is evidence of the incestuous relationship the Oily Boyz have long had with the GOP in these parts. The Oily Boyz wrote the book on corporate whining…the GQP uses the same playbook.

  2. Coram at least has a campaign. Tipton had nothing. He did nothing. I’m not sure Coram can pull it off, but Boebert hasn’t done herself any favors.
