Senator Michael Bennet was a guest on MSNBC with Chris Jansing recently when he was asked about the fact that his Republican opponent, Joe O’Dea, alleges that Bennet is out of touch with Colorado voters.
Bennet’s response was a good one.
Click here for the entire 6-minute interview, or watch below for the #HorseSushi:
Jansing asks Bennet about the fact that O’Dea claims the Democratic Senator is “raising taxes on struggling Colorado residents while you’ve been getting rich.” Jansing concludes by asking, “how can you relate to the average person in your state?”
BENNET: Well, first of all, I wish that were true about my wealth. I don’t know where he got those numbers and I know when my wife and kids see them, they’re going to wonder where I’ve been hiding it because it’s not remotely true.
Second, this is a guy who literally posted on Facebook a picture of him and his wife riding their horses to buy sushi in his fancy neighborhood, so I don’t know who needs to prove who’s in touch with working Coloradans. [Pols emphasis]
It’s funny because it’s true!

I read this and I assume the sushi is made of horses.
But if they were in Venezuela, the sushi would be made from dog meat.
Seahorses, of course.
"Rice sushi" still cracks me up.
As a Republican, I feel for Joe O'Dea. He could be a good candidate. But the massive schism in the Party is overwhelming.
He can't please the so-called radical Trumpist and anti-abortion base while also trying to appeal to common sense Republicans. Then there is the whole world of unaffiliated voters……..
I have zero sympathy for someone who cannot be consistent and honest, Republican, Democrat, or otherwise. Joe can lie in the bed he makes
As can the rest of the Republican party. The "massive schism" mentioned above is the sole doing of the party itself.
Nixon, Reagan, the Bush syndicate (twice), and now the full blown, organized crime boss that is Trump.
Yeah…their wounds are self-inflicted…let 'em bleed.
He doesn't have to please anyone because R voters always vote for R candidates no matter what.
Generally true. One rare exception: the January 2021 Georgia runoff when Trump, Lin Wood, and tier ilk managed to convince enough Republicans to stay home to protest rigged elections.
The runoffs had a happy ending!
I think this race is falling into the territory of "If you bought it, it’s yours "
O'Dea wanted the nomination and effectively bought it. meanwhile, the Republican Party is demonstrating more and more ways to split into factions.
I'm not certain if Hickenlooper or Bennet is luckier in their opponents.
I think Joe “Horse Sushi” O’Dea has a certain ring to it. Catchy like “Both Ways Bob.”
We had a Sen. Nighthorse Campbell. Why not sushi Horse O'Dea.
Sashimi O'Dea has a better ring, and fewer carbs
