From the Rocky Mountain News:
Cole Finegan, who for 15 months has held two of the most powerful posts at Denver City Hall – mayor’s chief of staff and city attorney – announced his resignation Tuesday.
Simultaneously, Mayor John Hickenlooper told an assembly of ranking city workers gathered in a third-floor City Hall library that Kelly Brough will take the reins as chief of staff in December. She has been serving as deputy chief of staff.
A decision on who will replace Finegan as city attorney should be made within three months, Brough said…
…There was no indication of a rift between Finegan and the mayor, although Finegan said he did not have any immediate plans for his next career move.

Who cares…
I heard Cole will be moving over to the Ritter camp to manage the transistion team post-election.
who will be looking for work post November. Most are lobbyists and attorneys, but politico’s, too.
I vote for a move to the Ritter administration. Time line: 1/19/2006 – Ritter chooses Barbara O’Brien as running mate. O’Brien’s organization, Colorado’s Children Campaign was deeply involved in promoting the Manuel High School redesign into three schools in 2000. 2/6/06-Hickenlooper decides not to run for governor, giving Ritter clean sweep to Democratic nomination. 2/10/2006 – Bennett, former chief of staff for Hickenlooper, announces the five year experiment (midwifed by O’Brien, et.al.) is a failure, but Manuel High School will not be an issue in a democratic primary contest.
Please god do not replace Cole with Cybil Kiskin. Worst. Manager. Ever. Think “book smart” crossed with “retarded” and that’s Cybil.
