This week on the Get More Smarter Podcast, your hosts Jason Bane and Ian Silverii talk with Brittany Pettersen, Congresswoman-elect from the seventh congressional district (and Ian’s wife). Pettersen takes us behind the scenes for a look at what it’s like for a newly-elected Member of Congress to spend the week after the election learning the ins and outs of life at the U.S. Capitol.
Later, we discuss Rep. Lauren Boebert’s narrow victory in CO-03; Donald Trump’s very sad 2024 campaign announcement; and leadership elections at the State Capitol. Happy Thanksgiving, and thank you for listening!

Brittany wasn't my first choice in the Democratic primary… oh wait we didn't have a choice.
I'm not sure if it was the Colorado Democratic party or the National party, but I find it hard to believe that there was only one Democrat in CO-7 that has over +800K residents that wanted to run for this office.
Someone cleared the field for this twit and forced her on everyone in CO-7 and I don't care what her experience is, it's was undemocratic borderline authoritarian to allow it to happen.
If she were in fact a twit, she would have been an easy target for some ambitious Dem to take on in a primary.
The fact that no Democrat wanted to take her on in a primary was probably because it was a fool's errand to do so. She was a good fit for the district and the general election results showed that. She would have mopped the floor with any Dem who challenged her.
Yikes. Maybe someone cleared the field, but someone also didn't identify a different candidate who might be competitive or do what it takes to run a congressional primary. Without anyone taking those very basic first steps, saying "undemocratic" and "authoritarian" cheapens both words.
Is that Powerful Pear's alternate account here (COgator95)?
Hard to tell how many sock puppets he has…
So why didn't YOU run if you are so keen on having alternatives? Next time get off your ass instead of expecting other people to do the hard work while you whine.
Of course she wasn't your first choice in the Democratic primary…because you are not a Democrat. You see, your verbiage gives it away. Democrats don't call women twits, unless the woman is Lauren Boebert. And Democrats don't use right-wing phrases like "undemocratic borderline authoritarian". And, you "don't care what her experience is" isn't what a Democrat would say…it what a right-winger would say. It seems you have ventured too far from home, so, turn around and git.
Senator Jessie Danielson started to throw her hat in, but quickly demurred.
Happy Thanksgiving! Congratulations to Rep-Elect Pettersen.
Re Club Q – On Monday after the shooting 710 KNUS George Brauchler show had Lauren Boebert on it who discussing the shooting continued to be disgusting to the community and said "LGBThow ever many letters they are now". Even Brauchler admitted it was disrespectful with a caller. The show is not offered online as a podcast.
