Dick Morris. Seriously?

  • by: Colorado Pols

According to the right-wing group Americans For Prosperity, for reals:

Americans for Prosperity-Colorado is excited to announce famed political author and commentator Dick Morris will speak in Denver on AFP’s Obama’s Failing Agenda Tour. The tour includes three continuous buses crisscrossing the nation, giving a voice to the millions of Americans who oppose the policies of this administration.

Dick Morris, in case you didn’t know, is a former political advisor to President Bill Clinton. After a mid-1990s scandal involving Morris, a prostitute, and a fetish for toe-sucking became public, Morris became a Republican strategist. Since that time, he’s done a great job making people wonder what the Clintons ever saw in him. Most recently, Morris has earned ridicule for political “predictions” that have failed to materialize. Chronicled by The Atlantic last year:

Claim: In March, Morris said of Trump: “I think he’s gonna run, I think he’s got a good shot at the nomination and I think if he were nominated he could beat Obama… I think he’ll just clobber him.” Outcome: In May, Trump announced he would not run for president.

Claim: In September 2010 Morris made the claim on Fox News’s The O’Reilly Factor. “I predict there will be a government shutdown.” Outcome Congress averted a potential shutdown with a last-minute budget deal.

Claim: Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice will likely face off against each other in the 2008 presidential elections.  Morris literally wrote the book on this prediction, Condi vs. Hillary. Outcome: Neither candidates ran in the 2008 general election. But Morris’s book is available to buy on Amazon for $0.01.

A few more from The Guardian:

In the span of two minutes, Morris said that President Bush’s approval rating would remain in the 80s so long as we were fighting overseas. It did, of course, drop precipitously, into the low 50s, by the 2004 election…

Apparently, Bush’s foreign policy was going to bring Iran and North Korea to their knees and force them to cooperate with the United States. Eight years later, Iran continues to back the Syrian government and is as close to war with Israel as it’s ever been. Oh, and North Korea is as much a mystery and a headache as ever.

…Did you know that President Obama was working in cahoots with the United Nations to take Americans’ guns away on 27 July 2012? I didn’t either. It was Obama’s secret plan to foil the second amendment!

This one from July of this year could be the funniest under present circumstances, although conservative opinion site Newsbusters loved it at the time:

“I guarantee you, Sean, based on what I’ve heard from third parties or I’ve spoken to that William Jefferson Clinton is going to cast his ballot for Mitt Romney.” [Pols emphasis]

Oops!

After reading all of that, if you still have any lingering desire to see in person the man the Guardian says is as likely to be right about politics as “the guy behind counter at Subway,” you can find out all about his stops in the Denver area today at the AFP website.

  1. Cuz if there was, this disloyal, lying, inaccurate, sexual pervert – sucking toes, my God! 🙂 – wouldn’t make a nickel from his antics.

Every unemployed and underemployed person must be crying.

  2. I coulda really done without seeing this toe-sucking Jabba the Butt azzhole.  The Dickster has def found his niche as a disgraced ineffective 100% wrong ordinary GOP voters would consider it honorable or patriotic poli-pundit that craves the camera, especially the Faux News cams.

  3. 1) Morris led the campaign effort that helped Clinton get re-elected in 1996.  The first Democratic president to get re-elected since 1944. (Truman and LBJ were elected only once; they became president upon the death of the elected president)

    2) He wrote a book entitled “How the Republicans can sweep in 2010.

Just saying.  Do not dismiss too lightly.

          1. I don’t know how instrumental it was in the 2010 sweep.

But, I also do not see the point of ridiculing Morris.  His predictions may have been off; but, he still can boost of a winning record.

  4. That’s what it says on their website. What a crock of BULLSHIT. I am so sick and tired of secret groups like this taking advantage of tax exemptions and secrecy laws and treating Americans like a bunch of stooges.
